LOL... laugh out loud

I need someone to sympathize with- every week in class I do stupid things that end up messing Bruno up. Like when I let the teeter hit him in the butt after he stepped off, and then he wouldn't do it again for the rest of class. Or when the instructor yells at me, "Get your hand out of your pocket!" or "Set him up closer!" or "Don't let him do that!" (When he ate the reward on the target plate without doing the obstacle right.)

Yesterday he even broke away from me after doing the dog walk and did zoomies around the arena and I made a fool of myself trying to catch him! (He isn't normally hyperactive at all, but I think he was getting frustrated and had to release it somehow.)

I'm not used to feeling like a dunce in any kind of class... always the star pupil at school, never had any trouble in basic dog obedience classes, etc... so it's a new feeling for me.

It really hammers home what the agility instructor said the first class, "Tell your dog: 'I love you and I'm sorry' because, trust me, EVERYONE messes up with their first agility dog!"

Even in the competitive level classes I STILL have my "moron" moments laugh out loud

Oftentimes at the end of a trial run that I didn't Q in I would LOVE to blame Coby, but looking into it more I realized "I totally messed this part up" or "Why the heck did I do that??"

Truth be told though, we all do. Eventually you learn to accept it, and laugh about it. It's only human to make mistakes. And at the end of the day, the more embarrassed you get over the ordeal, the more likely you are to remember it for next time wink

Oh you bet!! And then proceeded to keep doing stupid things in following classes!

We had an EPIC zoomie moment in our first set of classes! laugh out loud She was NOT coming back, no way no how until I smartened up and stopped chasing her and just walked away. Goofy girl!

I also managed to make her fall off the dogwalk, stupid me. Luckily she is fearless about inanimate objects and took it all in stride...

And last spring I managed to slip in the wet grass and fell flat on my back while running her through a series of jumps. What does Rexy do? She starts to do worry spins frantically in place on TOP of me! When I finally manage to get up, she promptly tries to shove her entire snout in my mouth. big laugh I could taste dog spit for the rest of the class!

So yeah, I make lots and lots of mistakes and Rexy makes the odd one. wink

Yes in the first and second and through 8 sets of obedience lessons...and starting all over with dog #2. And if I am not being the moron, Maci will bring me down to earth confused

Trust me everyone does it...it is why I love watching the higher levels of obedience. The errors made and how the person handles it helps me calm down.

I have a problem with remembering what I'm doing, and the course. XD Shiloh will do exactly what I tell her to do, and most of the time it is wrong.

I think everyone feels like a moron at agility classes.

big laugh big laugh big laugh OMG! I used to think it was only me who kept repeating the same idiotic mistakes over and over. Now my 18 yr old son with special needs wants to do agility so we're both repeating agility 1 and working as a team with Star. It's just too hilarious. This dog is a SAINT for putting up with us.

yep I used to feel very silly; I'm a little shy so some of the stuff I was asked to do really put me out of my comfort zone, especially as it was a small class so you always had to do the stuff with everyone else watching. My dog loved it though so I am so glad I stuck with it. Every Sunday she would literally be sitting by the door just waiting to go, I think that was her favourite day of the week lol
