Quin, i hear you did a fantastic job at your CPE trial! Rio will be going to his first one in July ... fortunately i'll have a few friends there to walk me through it but i'm excited!

Jynx, thanks LOL! A lot of the handling has actually come really easily for me... i can feel when things are wonky so the corrections my instructor offers make more sense since i can feel when it goes wrong (or right).

Here's Rio's latest agility video.... we need to work on his contacts more (he did hit them on the a-frame each time but barely) but we solved our table issue from two weeks ago smile

Are you going to to do CPE? You'll love it if you are - such a wonderful atmosphere for beginning smile

He looks great though!

Yeah, i want something fun and low-key and CPE seems to fit the bill... there aren't many CPE trials locally so if I get more into it we may end up doing NADAC since there are a few more of those locally.

Thanks... I think we are coming along nicely but it's nice to have outside opinions who are more experienced. We haven't been training (for agility specifically) that long so i'm just hoping we are prepared enough to trial (though i'd hope our trainer would be honest if we weren't LOL!)

Oh yay! CPE is my main venue, but I adore NADAC - Maggie is faster and more confident at those trials than she is even in practice. NADAC is more open between obstacles and you really get to see the dogs run a path, I use more distance work in NADAC because of Mags' speed. CPE is really fun though and I always enjoy the trials despite wherever I am (I have been to two trials in MI where I didn't know anybody and I met some wonderful people). I am actually heading to the West Coast CPE Nats next weekend big grin

Handling is tricky though, I had no issues with the basics, but as soon as I started working difficult courses (USDAA Master level) I had trouble, just takes practice and feeling what you are doing - most of it is just more complex things of the basics lol!

From the videos you guys look trial ready, but be prepared for it to fall apart lol! One of my friends has a dog that is wonderful in practice (and she is an experienced handler)...but that first trial was so exciting to the dog lol. By the end of that first day though the dog started to get that this was still agility and the next day went pretty well despite a hilarious first run. I am sure you guys will have fun one way or another.
