The differences between the signs are pretty minor. They are something to keep in mind if you're switching between the two, though! With your knowledge of the AKC signs, you could probably easily pick up how to do the APDT ones. And, if you're confused, there are plenty of people online who I'm sure would help. You might consider joining the APDT Yahoo group or searching YouTube for how-to videos on the APDT signs. I've only really done AKC rally as far as classes go. We briefly touched on the APDT signs about 3+ years ago. When I decided to do APDT this year, I simply printed out the rules and made notes on them comparing the signs to AKC. If their were significant differences, I made sure to highlight them for myself. I had absolutely no problem switching between the two though I always give myself a quick refresher before I compete just to make sure I've got everything straight!

Another reason I'm leaning more and more towards APDT vs. AKC is that I'm not liking the laxity in judging I see in AKC. Both in my performances and those of other dog/handler teams. Suffice to say, we should be losing more points than we are. And that bothers me.

That's really nice to hear, Risa. One of my fears is that I will be too hard as a judge. I like challenging courses and judges who are fair. It shouldn't be an easy in and out. You should have to train to title. And it should all be fun.
