thanks Dusty and Dusty's Dad! mommy thinks i'll have lots of fun and i already have Really strong shoulders. sometimes if i want to be picked up, mind you i'm around 35 lbs, i'll stand up on my back legs and mommy'll hold my front paws and i'll pull myself up. the first question i have is...should i start his training now or wait till he's older (he's just a year old this past Nov.)?

My Dad started training me when I was already almost 4, but that was because we moved to an area that weight pull is a common sport.

He started training my sister Java and new little nephew Flash at somewhere between 8 and 10 weeks. The first thing he did was bought a harness that was small enough for them and let them run around in it playing and everything so they would be comfortable in the harness.

Then after about 2 weeks, he bought the needed supplies for training:
1. 12 feet of 1/4 inch chain
2. window weights in increments of 2 1/2, 5, 7, 10, and 1 20lbs.

You would be looking at a start up cost of somewhere around $200 or so for the harness and supplies needed.
