Wow. She should see Bailey and Ziggy go at it! I call them the 'Two Ring Circus'. Plus they love to play with US, too! Chase the ball, tug the clothie, Zoomies, you name it.

And for the record, Bailey's favorite pastime is rolling in whatever smells the ripest. Ziggy likes to run and hop and find sticks and trot around triumph-ally with them in his mouth. They both love to go after the rabbits, but have yet to catch one due to my interference.
Boing! Boing! Boing!

Birdie

Little King of- Everything

Birdie woud be the exception that proves the rule. He doesn't play with other dogs, and won't play with toys either. It is kind of sad, and I think his life before I got him was probably with an older person who just expected him to sit in a lap.

After he lived with me for a little while, he did learn to run, and he loves that! He will take off running full tilt, then throw himself down in the grass and roll. Sometimes he play bows to me. I bet if he had had a different life, he would have been very playful.

Maxwell Smart

The dog park toy- thief!

Max is the one trying to get every other dog to chase him at the dog park. There is a separate section for big dogs and another one for little dogs, and ya, some of them don't play, but most do. We met a miniature schnauzer tonight and Max and him couldn't stop wrestling for over and hour, and they would have continued had the park not closed at dusk!

He plays with humans too! When I come home from work, he always brings 3 or so toys to me for me to toss for him.

My small dog does not play with other dogs. He behaves very seriously around his own kind. He is social with other dogs of all sizes and breeds, but has never played with another canine. He acts all confident and is very mellow when interacting with other dogs. He is offended when other dogs jump on him. He avoids over excited dogs pulling on the leash.

Toys, as long as other dogs are not around to witness him, he plays with those. He is very careful with his toys and does not tear them up. When he plays he throws them around, rolls around on them and shakes them. Never tears or chews on them.

He plays with me too. He likes to run around in circles and bite at me playfully. He likes to be chased too. He does not play with other dogs frown

Gigi Chalena

My Sunshine!

Well I have only had Gigi for a month and she doesn't play at all, nor does she play with toys. Who ever had her before made her into a stuffed doggie because all she wants is to be held and hugged and belly rubbed.
Actually, I think it is starting to irritate Princess because Princess always wants to tug and run and wrestle. She will bark at Gigi trying to get some spark out of her and Gigi just looks at her and goes to her bed, the little Diva!

I think it has a lot to do with the way a dog is raised and socialized with people and other dogs while it is still young. Gigi is 6-7 years old so she may never change. Princess was about a year old and had a lot of puppy in her when I rescued her, so she was easier to train and teach her how to play.

Hahaha, can you please tell Rondo that he doesn't play? He's always dragging his toy to me in the middle of work and we have several scheduled play sessions throughout the day! He also has best buddies at the dog park who run and chase with him.

I guess he missed the memo. smile smile smile

So NOT TRUE! The over 200 members of our local small dog meetup group would beg to differ! We have weekly play groups. Our wee ones LOVE to play! There are poorly socialized dogs of ALL sizes out there.
