Anyone else's sibe losing their winter coat right now? This is my first winter with a husky, but it seems a little early for all this. Any thoughts?

Lacy usually starts to blow her coat around Feb, we'll see how it goes this year.

Not yet, but it's still the dead of Winter in New England. I expect her to start sometime in February or March...and finish around August. (I wish there was an "eye roll" emoticon. wink
It seems like every year we have her up here (she was originally in a shelter in West Virginia) she grows more, and thicker, fur. Which is good for her as far as staying warm, but bad for the health of our vacuum cleaner!

Koda has been constantly shedding for about the past year, no kidding. The weather here has been so crappy this past year I think his body is confused what it should do, so it just sheds. I can't even tell you how many vacuum bags I've gone through, it's just insane.

Vance is just starting. Technically, the days are getting longer, so it makes sense. It's just that in New England, heat and cold don't really correspond to longer or shorter days! What usually happens is he re-grows most of his winter coat, then blows again around April.

Sable started blowing coat in the beginning of November. She only just turned a year, so I dunno if this is preparation for Spring or Winter.

They can shed in any season, depending on their cycles, but I dunno. I will me happy to see the wonky puppy coat all gone, and I will be happier when it doesn't look like there is snow in the house.

My husky started about 3 weeks ago and I purchased a "furminator".. best idea ever. This brush is amazing. I recommend it to anyone with a husky.
If you use it like every couple of days they don't shed hardly at all even with the winter coat coming out.
