Please help if anyone knows, what this might be. I am so worried bout our pup, I can't see or think straight.

1st Visit on Saturday, May 28th. Angeles Animal Hospital there was a lady vet there filling in for Dr. Ronald Barnes. She took chest x ray and listened, said he was wheezing, had fluid on his lungs and prescribed antibiotic and diuretic. Well, after another trip to TO ER , they kind of said the same thing, but went by her story and gave him an injection (diuretic) diurectic but did not take xray or do any other tests,. We were there for four house. On Tuesday, we had blood work, and a PET SCAN THAT showed heart was good and in normal range., Dr. B said this diagnois was that the xray was normal for lungs also, and wanted me to make an appt and bring in video as he did not really know what the dog was "doing" ... well i have described this over and over, and i would think after 600 in vet bills, i would not still be lying awake at night with my hand on his stomach, afraid that he may very well take his last breath. I have not given him any more of any of the medicine after he did not even want to go for a walk with my husband and two grandkids, and he seems depressed. Could this all be because we have a new puppy, anxiety or ? We are not smoking or using any aeresol or anything like that around the dog. Anyone have any ideas or had this happen. He is only 2 years old . and this has been going on now for 8 days. This would be like losing a child to me. I am so worried, I just don't know what to do except start over with another vet. Am I over reacting and does this look normal to you. Please any and all comments are welcome. Even a good recommend for another vet. I hate to give him this medicine if he does not need it. Who is right? Could it be anxiety? or lack of some vitamin? or something they are not catching at the Vet's office. Remember, all blood work, heart workup and xray in Dr. B's opinion, is all very normal. It is 1:30 am and I went to the 24hr pharmacy and got a humidifer to help him and gave him 10mg of Benadryl. He is finally asleep. Should I be taking him to a smush face specialist of some sort. Can Benadryl help the breathing or just help hin relax and sleep. I am on limited income and at my wit and bank accounts end.
The video of the "breathing" is posted on Giz home page on this Dogster site. If I knew how to link it or ... I would Please view it and respond. It is also here ... and on facebook. Please help if anyone knows, what this might be. I am so worried bout our pup, I can't see or think straight.

Hi Gizmo sorry to hear that you are not feeling well, this laboured breathing doe's it happen all day or just when you are sleeping? iv'e read in a shih zu book that some shih tzu's have small nostrils or pinched nostrils making breathing more difficult specially at night when they are sleeping and surgery can fix that.Get a second opinion from a diferent vet surgery not the same one, good luck.

It seems to get worse while I am resting. There were two different opinions. One said Bronchitis/Asthma and gave me a diuretic and antibiotic. The other said, he did not see that on the xray.

and I did take the video tape in and we watched it together ...this vet said even though it was short rapid breathes, it was not labored and it does get worse when i am resting or sleeping. Every site we read, says though that 60 shallow breaths per minute is not normal. My PET test came back, all good. My heart worm test came back negative and was good. My mom had to give me a heart worm pill to take me to Arizona.
Could the heart worm medicine cause this? I am doing it again, tonite. Could it also be allergies? My eyes are watery too. I took a benadryl and it helps me rest, but had to get started and dependent on meds. I think my mom is going to take me to a smush faced specialist. She needs sleep.

I have a 10 year old Shih Tzu. She goes into This rapid breathing when she is spooked. Thunder storms scar her to death. Rain also dose it. Load noises also. An example is when I defrost my refer and the ice drop to make a sound. She goes crazy. After the the incandescent It takes her about an hour to get back to normal. Just listen and try to here what is scaring your dog. Don't forget are dogs here six time better then we do.
