Mom keeps me "kennel cut". It's nice and short, keeps me cool in the warm weather. During the winter I just don't go to the groomers as often, stretched out to 8-9 weeks instead of every 6 weeks.

Pudo's hair is kept short. When he starts acting somber and mopey, I know it's time for a haircut. Plus, he scratches his back by laying on the floor and wriggling his hips and shoulders back and forth. It's cute to watch, but if his hair was long I would freak. He would have a mohawk of knots right down the center of his back. Yep... his hair stays short.

Mommy keeps me long with just a sanitary trim. I think she likes spending time each day brushing me--I don't like it all that much--I'd rather be rolling in the grass or something!!! BOL!
I think she's afraid that if she cuts me, I'll change color... puppy

i had my DIsney's facial hair around the nose and near the eyes trimmed... too matted in the area when i first got him... so we had no choice but to cut it...

my question is, is it still possible to grow this back? is there a way i should follow so his eyes wouldnt get irritated while the hair is growing back?

any tips and pointers?

Whoa! I forgot I made this thread. My hair's been kept on the shorter side after all, because I love to go outside and play with Meeko and Strider so much. Chasing Strider into the dried up pond would be hard with long hair; Border Collies are fast! wink

Also, my family has noticed I have lots more energy and happier moods when my hair is short, so looks like we've found my style. I mostly look like I do in my profile picture.

During summer we would bring our shih tzus to the dog parlor to cut their hair very short because they are not comfortable and get very tired and thirsty due to very high temperature.

I get the 'puppy' cut for summer, but let it grow longer in the winter. Then it's brush, brush, brush or we get matted big time.

We are all long hair Tzus as we are show dogs. It takes 2 hrs each day to brush each of our hair.

I love the way shih tzu's look with their hair long and would love to have Missy like that but it's too hard for me to maintain so i keep hers short. Since she's white, she gets these really bad urine stains in her hair that stink and make her hair all sticky. And whenever she defecates, it sticks to her hair too. So as much as i would love to keep her hair long it's just too much work frown Sucks..

Boo gets a puppy cut for the summer and goes a little longer in the winter months. She was in full show coat when I first got her and it wan't difficult to maintaim the coat, but it was very time consuming; about an hour each night brushing and combing.

With her puppy cut, she still gets brushed and combed out every night, but it's much easier to get the burrs out around her feet with a comb and there's far less matting.

We love our nightly ritual. Boo sees the brush and she comes right over. Of course, it could be that she gets treats when she gets brushed too, but I think she rather enjoys all the attention and the feel of the brush, and the belly rubs, and the scratches behind her ears, and the kisses on her forehead, and the praise for being the greatest puppy in the universe.

I wish she liked getting her teeth brushed as much.
