Loki, you are so funny!! laugh out loud

Sarah's mom, in addition to alpha rolling 15 yr olds, I've often wished you could use a pre-programmed shock collar on them to reinforce their "training" when they are outside.

"Can you stay out after curfew?" **BZZZZZ**
"Hey, you wanna hit?" ***BZZZZ**
"You'd do it if you loved me..." **BZZZZ, BZZZZZ, BZZZZZZ**

yeah, evidently I'm just a glutton for punishment. A shiba/chow cross and a 15 year old human female in my house. Maybe i have latent masochistic tendencies?

The one BIG problem that we have with Nismo is the dog park. We don't know how it began, but he does not like to be "greeted" by other dogs upon entering the park. He would be in the park for 5-10 seconds before the snarling and attacking begins. We assume that the sniffing/greeting is the trigger. We have no clue why or how this became an issue. Crazy thing is, the dogs at the park are ones that he's been playing with since he was several months old.
We tried the Dog Whisperer stuff, but we can't "shssssshh" him in time before the violence begins. He's already tuned us out, and ready to strike. Catching him and correcting his behavior is a joke. he's too quick for us to tap his neck and break his focus. It's not a permanent solution, but we've exiled ourselves from the park for the safety of ALL the dogs.
What makes it difficult to isolate and address this issue, is asking for help from other dog owners. No one would want to use their pet as a guinea pig to help us and I don't blame them. He misses the socialization and play time. He whines whenever we pass the park. As I'm talking to owners on the other side of the fence, he'll beg and whimper hoping that i'll give in and let him play. I wouldn't dare, not for a million bucks.
This is the one glaring issue with Nismo that we wish never happened, but we're clueless as to what to do.

I wonder if we could make some kind of vest for us to wear that says "Dog in Training" while we're working with our aggressive dogs near and then in dog parks. I know my Chow can do it. She has that trigger, all-or-nothing switch Nismo has, too. But she has done very well with Aya after enough training and supervision.

Sorry I missed this thread...some of it is very funny!

Oh, and Aya has her mouth and teeth on me a lot during the day, but it's part of our play ritual. It works for us. She almost never bites down anymore and the rough play gives me MUCH more Aya-free time later on. Lately she'll jump up on the couch and if I'm leaning forward she'll put her paws over my shoulders and gnaw on them or my ear until I either say "Enough!" or I get down and play with her. Less than half the time I let her "win," and the rest of the time she ends up in some sort of super-hug with me on my back and her scrunched-up in my arms on top of me, or rolled on her back getting hand-bitten/grabbed by me and then petted and cuddled and kissed. She LOVES it. (We'd be a great WWE show!)

Otherwise, she might put her mouth on us while we're doing her nails, but we can control her and she will calm down after enough chicken. She lets Kali be the aggressive dog in the house.
