For newbies who have pups, I HIGHLY recommend Doggie daycare. Training is important, but there was a very fast improvement in her behavior after starting daycare.

The "crazy puppy act" was pretty much non-existent, and it boosted her confidence around other dogs. Winnie turned into a completely different dog after going to Doggie Daycare. (She went from a nightmarish crazy pup, to a pup that was more obedient, listened, and not so nippy!)

It was one of the best things I did for her, and she still enjoys going there. I highly recommend it!

That's a great idea. Even if it's just for a week or two to get some extra socialization when you can't set up "play dates".

Love that one!

Doggie daycare was a life-saver when Auggie was a puppy. It completely taught her manners and socialization. When Phog Allen first came to our home from the Rescue, I was a little scared about taking him to doggie daycare with him being such a timid shiba, but it put him at ease to be around other dogs.

It still is very helpful during extreme weather - be it cold spells like we are currently having or heat waves (which I'm sure we will have next week).

That said, it gets pricey really quick. We really got Phog to entertain Auggie and try and curb spending money on daycare. Now it is a treat instead of a necessity.

Western NY really has to get on the ball, we don't have dog parks OR doggie day care, all we have is 5 degree weather right now.
