I got Bella a week ago and was told she was a beagle mix, today she went to the vet and he said, he sees no beagle, but maybe a min pin and akita mix. I am not seeing any akita in her, so I'm really confused at this point. She is 2-3 years old, 40 lbs, has spotted tongue, and half curled tail. Any thoughts are welcome...thanks

Min Pin Akita mix?
Not likely!

Akita's are usually at least 24 inches tall and more than 80lbs, where Min Pins are typically less than half that height and under a quarter of that weight. Not to mention, neither of them are overly popular breeds - not really conducive to random breeding.
But then again, my former vet told me that he didn't know what a Kelpie was and said that Rigby was "definitely mostly Jack Russel"
Most vets aren't breed experts unless they also find the time to do conformation shows or breed themselves. And even at that it's still only a few breeds they'd be familiar with.

As for Bella, I wouldn't rule out hound of some sort, beagle or otherwise.
I know I've seen a face like hers before, but I can't for the life of me remember where or what mix they suspected the dog was...
