|Radio was rescued by North Shore Animal League (based out of Long Island) in July 2011 at a puppy mill in Missouri. (See story here: http://www.animalleague.org/rescue/pet-rescue-programs/puppy-mill-re scue/puppy-mill-rescue-archives/rescue-alert-july-2011.html)
Radi o found it hard to adjust after the rescue and was held behind while his fellow rescue friends were being adopted out. Radio was given additional socialization tools and therapy for two months after his rescue. While initially he would pee at the sound of a human voice, after two months, he got to the point where he could (while very frightened) eat a hot dog out of a human’s hand.
Here's a picture of Radio arriving at the shelter in July 2011
Radio was adopted in September 2011 and has since grown into a great boy with a fantastic personality. It has been an extremely long journey and while still timid, scared, and protective, every single day Radio grows a little bit more into a “normal” dog. His past will always haunt him, but he’s now able to have some peace in his life and have humans that absolutely adore him.
Here's a photo of radio today!!
What's your puppy mill rescue's story??
Also, if it's not too much to ask, Radio is involved in a photo contest through the North Shore Animal League. He would appreciate your vote!
