9-Year Old Chicago Basset Hound Needs a New Home

We adopted Bailey 2 years ago, and unfortunately he has issues with resource possession/aggression that have resulted in a couple of serious bites. After talking to a couple of behavioral specialists, we have come to the decision that this is not the right home for Bailey. I do not want to have to put him down and I am trying to find a home for him that has experience in dealing with dogs who have a bite history. He loves people, gets along well with other dogs and cats. If you are interested in providing Bailey with a new home, or can recommend an sanctuary for him, please let me know. I am willing to travel to find him the right home.

Hi, where did you adopt the hound from? Is it a kill shelter or something that you do not wish to return him to? Most rescues will take their adoptions back if it is not working out.

I did a quick google search and came upon this website. They work with bassets specifically within Northern Illinois. You could try contacting them and explaining your situation. Be sure to be honest about the resource guarding. If they decide to take him in, knowing that can be greatly beneficial.
