Chevy... you are kidding aren't you when you stated...

" PLEASE DON'T DONATE TO THIS HUMANE SOCIETY"

Although probably 75%-80% of the dogs in the pound are pits and bully mixes there are OTHER BREEDS also in jeopardy there. The pit saga is sad enough... why would you ask everyone to turn their backs on breeds and mixes that COULD BE HELPED.

I live in Las vegas... we have no Bsl intact or even brewing. What we do have is a huge pitbull/owner problem. The shelters are blownup with pitties/mix. What would you have them do ??? Craigs list is teeming (20 or more new listing daily) with pit puppies. The owners advertise them as Razor or Gotti lines complete with pictures of heavy chained or large spike collared grossly misbred dogs. They claim their dogs "GOT GAME". It's completely out of hand.

Also it bothers me that pittie advocates will crucify anyone who posts about a pittie attack or claims to be afraid of or outright hate pits. They will quickly say that you can't judge the breed by one or two deaths by mauling... then they will turn right around and mention how great their pittie is, their uncles pitty rocks and petey from our gang was a pittie... ???? Double Standard ?????

I'm not a hater and I feel badly that humans have put the pitbull and look alikes in this horrible position ... But reguardless of fault PITBULLS ARE A HUGE PROBLEM IN LAS VEGAS and fill up our shelters. It's about the owner but this is Las Vegas.... highest high school dropout rate in USA ...highest teen suicide rate.... riddled with 100's of active violent gangs. Ignorance abounds here .... good dog owners are a huge minority here... IT IS DANGEROUS !!!!

Yes, yes, yes, Pitties are getting a raw deal on the whole... but you can't dismiss that there is a HUGE problem no matter who's at fault.

Actually, sad to say, I don't think dogs would necessarily get sick from cannibalism due to starvation.

Maybe the pups were too far gone, but maybe they said they were pits and would be put down anyway, so why bother?

My breed is dealing with a puppy mill/hoarding situation right now. Sadly, one of the comments often heard early on was "Thank god they're not pits, people will not want to kill them."

These dog's living conditions were probably as bad as those poor pits. (Warning, link is NOT for the squeamish.):

Frankly, it is just not fair that people will stretch themselves to help fluffy black and white dogs, and not pits.

Camarillo-

Well, perhaps that is because you CAN'T judge an entire breed by the actions of a few individuals. There are two Jack Russells in my neighborhood. One went through its invisible fence and attacked Chandler a few months ago. Personally, I think it would be very unfair to judge the second dog (which sniffs noses with Chan) by the actions of the first. Should I be accusing the owners of the second Jack of having a double standard if they tell me they have a good dog?
