The 6 KANSAS PUPS NEED A NEW FOSTER OR VOLUNTEER TODAY OR ELSE...

This is a special section for dogs needing new homes and for inspiring stories of dogs that have found their furever home through Dogster or through the love and energy of rescuers. This is also the place to discuss shelters, rescue organizations, rescue strategies, issues, solutions, etc. and how we can all help in this critical endeavor. Remember that we are all here for the love of dog! If you are posting about a dog that needs a new home, please put your location in the topic of your thread so those close by can find you! Make sure to check out Dogster's dog adoption center!

ETA: Hey all, those 6 Pups from Kansas are now in Des Moines, Iowa! Some still need new foster homes or forever homes. We are looking for help in Des Moines, Coumbus, Ohio and New Jersey. Please drop me a pmail if you would like to know where to go for an update on their current situation and the rescue plan in progress.

I was just on the phone with Deb, the kind woman who took them in and she said her nurse had arrived this morning, I could hear her in the background, and said she will not come back tomorrow if the puppies are still there. They made too big of a mess last night in her basement and the nurse doesn't want to have to deal with it.

So today is the day. If she can't find homes for them or a volunteer to help her out they will most likely go to the kill shelter.

Her only other option is to have her friend take them into her backyard, but it's winter and too cold for them to be outside.

I am also going to call back the feed store down the street from her to see about getting food to her as she is out after this morning. They will NOT accept credit cards over the phone.... SO I'm going to call back at 11:00 am to talk to their manager and see if anything can be done.

I don't know if they will do anything but contact Hearts United... they are in Southeast NE and are a national no kill animal rescue. www.hua.org

Not sure what else to do. I'm trying to think of rescues in the area but there aren't many. I'm not too terribly far away from them but currently have my own foster (and our shelter is close to full) so my hands are tied a little. Let us know if there's something else we can do!

Thanks Riley,

I'll contact them right now puppy

Update:

The pups are being moved out of her home today to her friends backyard. Their shelter will be the crate in the photos and video on her page. While far from ideal she said the pups had been living outdoors until they were brought to her so they are accustomed to being out in the cold. Her friend will most likely only be able to keep them in her yard for two days at most... Next stop will be to the kill-shelter for all of them.

Praying for a miracle.

Just called them and they said no go. They are full. She did try to locate a no kill shelter in KS but there are none :o(

I sent an email with the link to the pictures as well in the hopes that may soften them up but I guess if they are full they are full.

As an absolute last resort, if we can't find any other way, I'm willing to keep them in my heated garage and attempt to place them. Huge problem would be transporting them the 900 miles from Kansas to Ohio, next huge problem is I would have to place them extremely fast, first of all I have no contacts in that area and I live in a condo with a 2 pet limit, if I acted fast it would be OK, but because of that they may end up going to a shelter here anyway, Vincent, I'm not positive, do you know if Franklin County is a no-kill? I know they are pretty agressive in getting their dogs placed. This sounds completely impossible, am checking around here with GSD rescues and Chow rescues to see what kind of help they can provide.

Thanks Mellow and Zoe....

Mellow I just posted in the Plus Informational thread. Rondo knows someone who may be able to take one... I also pmailed Riley to see if her shelter could take one... I've sent all of you Deb's contact information so if people can contact her directly and let her know what they can do as far as taking puppies that would be great.

Thank you thank you thank you!

UGH!!!!!

How to get FOOD to them? They ran out this morning and she has no money of her own to spend on the puppies :o(

The store will not allow us to charge the food for her. They will not accept a wire transfer as they will not let an employee go to fetch it. They will not front the money out of their own pocket until we could overnight them a cashiers check tomorrow. They are totally unwilling to help in any way shape or form.

We can try to deposti a few dollars into her bank account from out of state but I don't know that the funds will be available to her today.

Anyone in KS able to help out with the food situation it would be very much appreciated.

Should add I have to go to work soon... But will try to keep on this today as things develop. Thanks everyone for all of your help and efforts to see to it that these babies have a fighting chance.

There is a a thread in the railroad section outlining legs on the trip from Hutchinson, KS to Columbus, OH. If you're willing to help us pull off a Chrismas miracle PLEASE take a peek and see if you can help. Because of the holidays, the legs are short--nothing more than 100 miles, most are around 60.

Thanks guys!
