I justlost my 12y.o shih tzu, he was my heart. For as long as I've had him he kept me mobile. I have Ms and he was my guardian angel. I want to adopt or rescue a dog, to honor Sonny.

If you're looking for a small, non-shed breed, most curly coated breeds don't shed. Miniature or toy poodles, and bichons are very popular. Also havanese, bolognese, coton de tulear, and maltese do not shed. You could also go with a short haired breed, which minimally shed. Or you could go with a hairless, or partially hairless breed such as the lowchen, the chinese crested, or mexican hairless.

Keep in mind that even non-shedding dogs need to be brushed and trimmed (in the long haired variety) to rid them of dead hair. Keep in mind that all these dogs have different personalities and temperments, so be careful not to judge your choice on looks alone.

Good luck in your search for the perfect companion.

Our dogs are Boston Terrier rescues from Wanda Jewell at American Boston Terrier Rescue in Texas. She ships if you pass a home visit and application process. Bostons are marvelous pets and they don't shed a lot. I don't have any problems with them.

You may want to consider a mini schnauzer (of course). My mom and dad say that I don't shed at all! I have heard them tell other humans this and I know that they always are right.

First of all, all dogs shed. Second of all, it's important that you consider your life style before getting a dog.

A few breeds that shed very little....Miniature and Toy poodle (there is NO SUCH THING as a teacup or tiny toy poodle), Schnauzer, and Chinese Crested.

Actually poodles don't shed their fur at all. Pepe does't leave a mark on anything.

Once you have a few breeds in mind, do a pet search on www.petfinder.com.
Thanks for choosing adoption!

I'm tired of people saying "oh, I want a hypo-allergenic dog" or "I want a dog that doesn't shed." Only puppy mills advertise their dogs as "non shedding" and "hypo-allergenic". These are all lies. There are certain breeds that basically shed nothing, there is no such thing as a non-shedding, hypo-allergenic dog.
