"Does she bite?" asks the WalMart employee of my service dog that was asleep on my foot. Sigh.

LOL! We get that one all the time! We use a gentle leader and everyone thinks it's a muzzle, even though I'm usually feeding him kibbles while they're making that assumption. It's always "watch out, it's one of those nippy dogs!" While A is laying calmly. Silly people!

My new favorite question is one I just got today (from someone I already explained SDs to!): "is that vest he's wearing a weighted vest?" I wanted to say yes, it's to keep him from floating away laugh out loud

LOL love it Aidan! Sita wears a Halti, but it's black & hard to see on her, especially when she's laying down.

Wag your tail- and the world- wags back

Ahile back I had to have a procedure where they needed to put an IV in me. I had Dora on the bed laying next to me and the male nurse ask if Dora was going to bite him. I told him she was a trained service dog and would most certainly not. He then said well what If I hurt you and you scream. I said well then you had better not hurt me and then laughed. I explained to him I was just joking and that Dora had been with me when I had IVs before and he then siled and said okay.

I get that all the time, and it is often code for, "Can I pet?" as is, "Is he friendly?".

I always have to resist the urge to say "He has teeth." Which is a standard answer around here among horse people who are asked that question. I don't think I've actually said it before in concerns to the dog in public but I think I want to every time. I got that in the waiting room the other day.

"Does he bite?"

"No."

"He looks hungry are you sure?"

(what do you Say to this? the sarcastic answer would have gotten me in trouble, and laughing would have offended them."

me - "Um... yeah... I'm sure, but don't pet him (as the arm reaches out). He's working."

They 'is he hungry' trips me up every time.

Harley that's what I always think. When people walk past me like last weekend and say "I'm resisting the urge to pet, I'm resisting,....."Or "I know I'm not supposed to pet you but I reeaaaaallly want to!" That is code for 'Oh gosh please let me pet your dog!!!" I am also asked if Samson bites all the time, I gave up on that one a whole ago.

Don\'t Give Up

I get this all the time wherever I go. whether Jesse has his vest on or I'm just out with him. the conversation usually goes something like this:

"aww look how cute she ia. is she friendly?"
"Yes HE is friendly."
"Will he bite me?"
"No."
"Are you sure? Why is he staring at me?"

Then I always want to say maybe because you are staring at him. I don't of course. I kindly say he is trained to patiently wait in a sit or down until someone pets him and he looks not in an agreessive manor but in an attentive one. I'm a dog person so I don't look at a dog and think oh he bites. nice to hear that doesn't only happen to me though.
