Squeaky? Where's- the squeaky? |
| Barked: Tue Nov 3, '09 11:38am PST | | | | | | So Boo went into the vet's office yesterday for her spay and before we picked her up today we went out to lunch and to pick up some things at the store. I always always have her with me when I'm at this mall.
I noticed myself doing things like she was there! I turned at doors to make sure her tail didn't get caught, I paused at aisles of the store with too many people in them-- even though I didn't have her with me and we've only been working together for a couple months still in-training, our area is really good about giving us permission so she comes pretty much everywhere with me.
I've started thinking about "us" instead of "me" and when it's back to "me" it takes a LOT of getting used to! Two weeks of rest and then we'll be back out again, but man is it going to be a strange two weeks!

Squeaky? Where's- the squeaky? |
| Barked: Tue Nov 3, '09 8:14pm PST | | | | | | Yep! I went to the back door as we got out of the car, and when I realized she wasn't there and went to shut it, I instinctively looked to make sure no tails were in the way... I reach down to grab the handle on her vest and it's not there, and it's strange. She'll be back in business soon, but man... | | | | |

Snuggly Bunny- Muffin Face - thanks Mini
|
| Barked: Tue Nov 3, '09 8:23pm PST | | | | | | I once went to a cafe with a friend and on the way out I realized that I did not have Jojo by my side. I panicked and ran around in the cafe, so did my friend.
People helped looking for her even
Then I called Hendrik and he goes - hae? She is here, with me..
I felt like an idiot.
Yes, you attach to the dog - literally.
Give Boot a snuggle and tell him that he will be back to work in no time sonja

Milo, CGC
The Definitive- Autism Service- Dog |
| Barked: Wed Nov 4, '09 5:48am PST | | | | | | Milo was hospitalized while I was still in college about a year ago. I was horribly worried about him but still had to go to school. Everything made me cry. When I got out of my car, I always go to the hatchback (Forester) to release him. He wasn't there. Going to the door, like you said, not checking which side of me he was on or what side the hinge of the door was on started me up crying. Then people ask! Waterworks.... On top of that, I got a speeding ticket while trying to get Milo to the hospital! I did have a really nice professor who took me to the campus center for breakfast.
It turned out Milo had idiopathic pancreatitis. He never eats human food or fatty food, just his high quality dog food so the vets were baffled. I won't even let them give him treats so they have no idea the cause. Thankfully it hasn't happened again.
The point of that very long rant was I completely understand how it feels to be without your other half.

Ollivander
Super Silver- Service Poodle
|
| Barked: Wed Nov 4, '09 7:32am PST | | | | | | Yup, it is very strange to be without! When Ollie was younger and Sabrina had retired I had to go without a SD for a while when I would have days where I needed to teach etc. I started carrying around a stuffed silver poodle I found at Ikea. While it didn't help as much as having a SD, it did help somewhat, and having it in my hands helped me with all the unconscious hand/leash activity that I would do. Hope Reboot is feeling recovered soon! | | | | |

Squeaky? Where's- the squeaky? |
| Barked: Wed Nov 4, '09 4:05pm PST | | | | | | Yeah, I might have to pick up a stuffed animal that resembles her for the meantime... and it scares me even more because now that she's home she's started showing her teeth to my other dogs. If it doesn't ease up by the time she's fully healed I'm going to have to stop bringing her in public and seriously work on this issue. She was always kind of dog selective but it was getting better, and now this. I'm hoping that was a hormone issue and I think if it was it should be better in a month or so when the hormones and stuff are out of her system, I don't know how it works. I have a feeling this is going to be a very strange next few weeks. | | | | |
