Good luck today at the vet. So scary when things are changing for us humans, I can only imagine what it is like for dogs getting older.

I am so sorry, for both of you!

Here's hoping there's a physical explanation that's small and fixable!!

Vet says Sabi is as healthy as a horse, needs to loose a few pounds though because she is almost as big as one too.laugh out loud
She figures either a bit of a mind blip or Sabs hips may have been a bit touchy that day. She says just try to avoid startling her, keep working on diet and exercise and try to pay attention to when the confusion happens so we can see if it is getting worse.

Thank you everyone and thank you Toto for the warning. Vet did an ultrasound, looks good, and will check on alternate drugs in case we need them down the road.

So sorry to hear this. It can be very traumatic when your dog acts in a way that is very uncharacteristic.

I had a family dog snap at me once. I don't know about you, but when it happened to me, I went to extremes - thinking I'm a terrible dog owner or people must think I'm awful at raising a dog or my dog hates me, etc...

I'm not a dog behaviorist or anything, but just in watching dogs interact at the park, I've noticed that they tend to communicate "loudly" with each other, even in body language. Snarls and barks and whines and growls and body language is "loud and clear" even for rather small messages they're trying to communicate.

This might be an unpopular opinion. While snapping is not okay, the message Sabi might have been trying to convey might have been somewhat less serious than it came across. She messed up and she knew it. And I agree, try not to take it too personally. hug

Glad to hear Sabi is healthy, too. smile

Glad to hear it was nothing but a momentary lapse in judgement. She did seem to realize what she did and make ammends quickly so you know now how to manage it. Take Care and hughughughughughughughughug to you and the pack.

SO pleased to hear Sabi is ok.

I guess we all have "those" days !

Its just jots us when its a loved fur.

Maybe sometimes its a little jot we need though ... perhaps we see a little further.. listen a little harder.

I know YOU work miracles for those with no voice.... thankyou always for that.

And Olive... I too have noticed what you say over the years. Not just dogs.... so I feel your opinion is very valid.

I am an 11 year old lab. I have arthritis in my back legs. my owner tried to feel the fatty lumps I have on my side and I turned around and growled. I didn't mean to. I NEVER do that, im sweet. She was probably just uncomfortable with you touching her because maybe that was a sore spot. Also if she didn't know it was you they probably were just a little surprised. since she came over and "apologized" i would let it go because it was an accident on her part.

Well, I guess it's all right. I'm so glad you didn't get hurt! I'm also glad Sabi confirmed that it was an big mistake. She probably didn't mean it at all. She was probably just sleepy, and didn't want anyone bothering her. I too have a Senior dog, but she's 99 percent pure angel inside and out.12 yr. old American Staffordshires rule!
