It only took me 1 try only. I went through puppy training and dad kept working with me after it. I still want more training so I can become a therapy dog so I can go to the local V.A. to chear up the vets there.

I have another set of classes to take for it, but I don't anticipate any problems. I've been in training for this since I was 4 months old and we just switched trainers, so I may be ready even sooner! I LOVE TRAINING!!!! Do you have any specific plans for after your CGC?

Hi. I know I am joining this discussion late but I too am interested in training. I took my Rottie Della to puppy obedience classes (8 weeks long) and after that I enrolled her into the next class for another 8 weeks. To graduate from that class she had to pass her CGC and she did it the first time. The instructor was very tough. But he was very good. He was very serious about his training. I liked that. I am always keeping up with Dellas training daily at home. She was just months old then and now she is 3 years old. Very well trained now, and listens well. She is a good dog. One of the best.
So, I am curious. Did you go through the CGC training?

"Puppy" began her basic obedience training at approximately five months old..followed by CGC training. The CGC "course" was approximately six weeks long and she passed her test the first time.

She is a very intelligent but STRONG WILLED GIRL She will be three years old on May l, 2009 and I have been obedience training (either new tasks or obedience maintenance) on a consistent basis.

HI,
I have a 3 y/o female rottie (110 lbs) named Scooby. She is a therapy dog (Delta Soceity and Therapy dogs's Inc. and CGC)

I strongly suggest that you don't stop w/the CGC. Rotties love to train and they learn quickly. Look into therapy dog training in your area. The rewards of hospital therapy is overwhelming for both you and your Rottie.

Very interested in getting CGC certified. I am a 6 month old Rotti... I know all my basic commands, etc... I wonder is 6 mo too young? What is the first step to get started?
