Zoey,- Shellie &- Griffin

Natural & Loving- it!

I make a set of Mixes up for my little dogs as Griffin won't chew big pieces yet. I mix meat pieces, ground meat, egg shells, sardines, 1 egg, liver, kidney etc in each mix, and make, beef, pork, turkey, chicken, rabbit & fish mixes. Then mix it all up together and then freeze in ice cube trays. Then each meal they get a different protein. I portion out Shellies food seperately, but they all usually get the same protein each meal. Works for us, and I don't have to worry about Zoey 'avoiding' her organs like she has a tendancy to do lol.

Hula

This is MY- stuffie!

Hula gets 10 oz a day so it makes the calculating rather easy. 1 oz organ, 1 oz bone, 8oz meat. I get a supply once a month on a Saturday, so I spend an hour or so dividing everything into daily meals per zip lock. I don't even bother marking the bags with what kind of meat she is getting.

Hula, I did the same thing before he got a freezer so I could buy boxes of the good stuff. I even put in 1/2 ounce of liver and 1/2 ounce of kidney the first couple months. Then I threw caution to the wind and put in either an ounce of liver or kidney. So daring! It sure helps save space, I could smash more than a month's worth of meals on less than one freezer shelf.

Oh, most of the time I could remove the frozen meal from the baggie and put it right back in the freezer for next month so I got more than one use and didn't have to wash out the baggie!

Thinking on it now I wonder why I didn't just pack up 2 day baggies and save even more space in the freezer.

Rexy

I dig in mud- puddles!

I'm another one that digs through the freezer until I come upon something that Rexy hasn't had recently.

I feed organs every week or so. I am fortunate that Rexy has iron guts...I can feed meals that consist solely of organ without any issues.

I end up writing down each day's meal on the calendar so I can keep track of what/how much she's eaten.

I also like to give whole prey items when I can makes me feel better since it has everything from eyes, brain, lungs, and so on..

I sadly ran out except for her whole saury fish it has organs and heads, but once freezer has room I hope to order some more quail, some rabbits to try, and herring, and sardines.

Lots of good ideas! Thanks to everyone that responded. I think for now I am going to start making up organ grinds that are 50% liver and 50% other. Riley only gets 3.5 oz of organ per week so I can do that in a day. Mackenzie get's 23 oz of organ per week, so I'll probably divide it into two days and she should be good. I'll just divide it up into 26.5ish oz. portions and freeze it that way. We'll see how this works!
