Sounds like you found a great vet, Keira! When I was looking for a vet when we moved to Saskatoon I purposely chose a vet who called herself "holistic" but didn't know how she felt about food or whether she was really a "holistic" vet, as many say they are, but really aren't. I was half-expecting a challenge on the raw thing, or maybe the fact that I didn't feed veggies. SOMETHING. The second question she asked was what I fed. I said proudly and confidently, "I feed raw. Not pre-made, but a diet I put together from chunks and whole pieces." With no expression change she just went on to the next question, "How long have you been feeding raw?" I said with even more confidence and even a bit of arrogance, "about 5 years". She totally put me in my place with a nod, and said, "So not, long, eh?" I knew I'd found myself a keeper of a vet! big grin

Oh for sure! We adore our vet. Actually, there are 3 of them, in a co-op practice, which makes it even better, because 2nd opinions are right there! We've been seeing them since we brought Keira home, and they have always been fantastic! Your vet sounds good too!

Sadly purely for the relationship I established with this vet I've moved from Saskatoon now and Meridian and Storm have since passed away, BUT it does seem vets like these aren't TOO far and in between despite most people's experience here on Dogster. I've been lucky, I guess, to have found vets in multiple cities across North America who've been supportive of a raw diet despite not feeling it benefits their practice to promote it. Hopefully in time....

I do think we were very lucky to have chosen our vet's office in the first place. There are three within our county and one county over. I have heard nothing but bad things about one, and mixed reviews with the other. I haven't met anyone yet that had anything derogatory to say about the one we chose though!
