Great question, Luna! I always thought there would be a correlation too. I haven't tried raw for the dog yet, but I'm definitely of the mind that all the processed food people eat is pretty bad . . . . whole foods is the way to go--not necessarily raw but as close to it appears in nature (some beans have to be cooked to be edible, e.g.) fruits, vegetables, whole grains. Two great books worth a read for humans are "the China Study" by Colin Campbell and "How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease" by Caldwell Esselstyn. Esselstyn was a cardiologist at the Cleveland Institute, but realized all those surgeries weren't changing long term outcomes much . . . and discovered diet did and could even turn around some very bad cases. The difference between cancer and heart disease eating typical "western" diets vs. what poorer peoples have traditionally eaten is amazing! It really is what we eat . . . .now if I could just stick to the plan . . . .laugh out loud
Sorry so long, just a fascinating subject to me!

Agreed with Augusta.

Personally I'd be fine doing a "raw" human diet, if it wasn't for the fact that rice needs to be cooked and I won't give up pasta, either.

Since I butcher my own, one of my favorite ways to sick someone out (especially someone from a city, it seams) in our butchering facility is to tell that person we should do a taste sample to see if the quality is good. As the butchering room is complete with a gas kitchen stove, normally they favor the idea. Then I grab a chunk of meat and scarf it down raw. It freaks people out! If I am the one butchering, I know no intestines were split, thus bringing the chances of ecoli down to exactly ZERO. We've never had parasite problems either. People who think commercial beef is more sanitary could not be more wrong. Look at all of the beef recalls. Look at the "sanitary" conditions in a feed lot.

Yep, I'm with Rocket&Cassie. I'm trying to shape up, really! Maybe I just need a human to prepare my diet and do tough love... tough love is hard on myself, because chocolate is so inherently rewarding. And pizza...cloud 9

I think Shaka eats better then I do. I eat a lot of red meats. Steaks more then a few times a week for me and not enough veggies.
