Mom's been starving me. And feeding boring foods. She'll tell you I refuse to eat, but that's not how I see it. She keeps trying to give me things that turn my stomach, like chicken, beef... well, ok, anything.

Thursday I went to the vet and got a B12 shot. Friday Mom started giving me really good food! Like chicken and beef! big grin

Today she got an internet shipment and something smelled incredible. I kept nosing it excitedly. So she put on gloves and we went outside. She cut open the package, and it was...

Tripe!!! It's been so long and I was SO hungry I ate a whole pound of it! It was stinkier than the last couple batches, but that's all the better. I'll probably get the runs later, but that's just par for the course. big grin

Lots of bone and pumpkin later - but they're good too!

Oooooh! You lucky pup! B12 is just the best thing for making you feel perky again. And then to follow it up with yummy, scrumptious tripe!

Sounds like life is good again. cloud 9

Darby, yes, B12 is apparently a wonder vitamin - and/or Byron is grossly deficient. The vet said B12 deficiency is common, especially but not exclusively in unhealthy dogs. The turnaround was amazing, a full 180 in less than 24 hours. Last time he got a shot there was also a very noticeable difference, but this time was just shocking. We'll be going for shots every 10-14 days now and see how it goes.

Byron also got some duck hearts. I'd ordered a couple pounds for the cats and gave him some. Everyone loves them!

The tripe had spleen in it, so I expected the organ to make him explode. Well, it did fix the nice solid poop he'd had Friday, but it wasn't even fully liquid. So he got another pound last night. I'll give him some beef heart this week too - push the really high-nutrient foods and try to take advantage of the B12 high to boost him back up.

Even if the B12 doesn't work long term, how wonderful just to have another rally of great days! cloud 9
