you are blessed to have Charlie close by for help. I know that the holiday season is coming and there is lots to do but please take a bit of extra time to get on your belly and look around from a puppy's perspective for anything unsafe they can get into. Even with crates I have seen them escape and heaven forbid they are left to their own devices for a second. We learned quickly with our Mika,as careful as we were, she refused to sleep in her crate, she in fact did the exact opposite of how it is supposed to work, when put in the crate she immediately used it as a potty patch and rolled herself and her blankets in it,left out of the crate she was perfectly happy to pick a spot she liked and gave us no problems staying in our bedroom until we woke up one morning, couldn't find her and went into a total panic,as much as we had carefully puppy proofed,we did not get down to her level and realize she could fit between our nightstands and waterbed frame. We pulled out the drawers underneath the bed and found her sleeping peacefully in a little heap under the pedestool of the bed, needless to say,we fixed that problem right away. Mika was nearly 3 when we added Kai to our family but lesson learned,we got on the floor and looked for anything and everything he might find to get into,he by the way destroyed the crate and chose to sleep in the closet. Good Luck with your new little family member, welcome to Dogster and we hope you enjoy it here.wishes Mika,Kai & Family
