Nova is 3 months old. We got her 2 weeks ago. She loves her crate during the day when we are in the living room and sleeps throughout the night in it no problem.

Why oh why is it that as soon as we leave the house she freaks out and poops in it? From what I've read its a seperation anxiety thing but this is new to me! He crate is next to Omens (which he is in when we are gone) so she isnt alone!! I need to solve this problem because im going back to work soon(she will only be alone a few hours at a time, but she seriously cant last 30 min right now)

please help us

How big is her crate? If it's bigger than just enough space to stand up,lay down, and turn around a smaller one or access to less space may work better. We had the exact same problem no matter what size crate we used and I swear it was a protest. Also you can take out any blankets or bedding in there to make less to clean up,and try putting a frozen Kong with something yummy in it in the crate because generally they will not potty and eat in the same place.wishes Hope it works. Maybe others will have better ideas that will help more.

E.T.A. Try to make sure she goes to the potty before you put her in the crate as well. If she has already pooped outside there is less of a chance she'll have any left to go in the crate.

it would be impossible to go smaller, she just has enough room to lay down so imagine the mess i come home too! We also make sure she goes potty (both) before we leave.

After dogs have a solid stool, they generally don't need to poop within a half an hour if they haven't eaten anything more in that span of time. So if your pup is really going before entering the crate, I'm wondering what/why it has anything left...

Is your pup having diarrea? That can be stress related...if the pup's stressed out enough they can even release their anal glands, which can look the same but smell a whole lot worse...are the stools in the crate normal/solid?

If it is in fact solid, then I'd suggest that a walk is needed right before crating to make sure everything has worked its way out before you leave. Many pups really need to walk/run a bit before they are fully empty.

her normal stools are solid, but its very runny/loose when she goes in the crate. Im 99% sure its a stress/anxiety thing. Which is something I've never dealt with.

Not sure if this is the same for you but the young girl I just had here would poop, run around and play for 10-15 minutes and then poop again. We never did figure out why but we did learn to wait for number 2 number 2.laugh out loud
