My dad is kinda like that 2. it annoys me. we don't have any dog parks around but if he did that me and my mom would probably be yelling at him. My dog Buck is part pit bull (we all think he is) he doesn't really act negative or anything 2 buck luckily id b mad if he did laugh out loud well, I suggest never taking him 2 a dog park again. big grin

Well the first thing I want to say is I am happier to see some younger people welcoming pitbulls more. I have seen that a lot lately. I volunteer at an animal shelter and alot of the younger volunteers love our two main pitties (Leno & May). We even had a summer camp for kids one week at the shelter and I don't think the kids every left the pitties alone, they loved them so much!

But then a few days ago I was showing a family with a 7 year old son a small little chi/doxie mix outside when a dog walker broguth our black pittie/staffie Leno out the door to go on a walk. I picked up the little dog (knowing both dogs can be a bit snippy with other pups). Then the guy shoved his child behind him, and pushed his wife out of the way of the dog and stood like he was ready to attack the dog if he suddenly turned on them. A few seconds later Leno was out of our sight and I told them that Leno isn't a big fan of dogs or cats but loves kids & people! And gives the best pittie kisses. And that he is an amazing dog. The guy then told me "Yeah amazing dogs, until they turn on you!" He then started laughing and I gave him a awkward smile in return. I went on to tell him the truth about pitties and he finnished by telling me "Well they could be good dogs, but I would never ever let one be by my son because the dog would probably attack him". Ugh people.

Now I could see how Leno might look scary at first with his big shiny black body & cropped ears (something his old owners did, trying to make him tough) but then you see his melting brown eyes and sweet smile and that all goes away! And these people aren't the only ones. Our other pittie, May, is the best child dog we have and loves everyone (even cats)! I will tell people about her and many times when they see that she is a pittie they could care less about her & want to see other dogs. confused

My parents aren't that bad I guess. My dad doesn't really care and my mom (who is a big dog lover like me) can be a bit judgey with pitties at times but I she isn't afriad to get a big pittie kiss. Some of my aunt & uncles are a bit. And one of them lives next door to two of them and isn't very fond of them because of their breed. Which suprises me because she has always had rots and has complained about how people judge them before getting to know themshrug

Any who I would just suggest having a good talk with your dad and tell him how you feel about this matter in a mature and nice way. And tell him the truth about pitties and maybe if you know someone who has a good ambassador of the breed maybe arange for your dad to meet the dog or something. May the shelter pittie is a fantastic ambassador and has changed many minds. Leno isn't the best because of his dog & cat agression but if you want the best pittie kisses ever look no farther then Leno!wink
