Emma is now 8 months old and fully house trained (finally), but we have a few reminders stained into our living room carpet to remember her by. And there is a spot near the dining room that has taken on a very distinctive odor - so much that we can no longer enjoy diner in there. We have recently cleaned our carpets, but the smell lingers.

Please help, I need a really good stain/odor remover. I reallydon't want to have the carpets replaced as they are fairly new.

What have you used so far to clean the stains with?
The odour may be in the underpad, and whatever product you use will need to soak into both the carpet and the underpad thoroughly.

Try a good enzyme remover such as Nature's Miracle. You may need to let it soak on the stain for a while, since the stain has been there a while. Use enough to get through to the underpad of the carpet. I would let it set for about 20 minutes and then blot it up. You may need to repeat this a couple times, but it should work. I have got old "hidden" stains out this way, and swear by this product to remove everything from urine, vomit, blood and those nasty poop accident stains and odours.

Either Simple Solution or Nature's Mircle will help remove the stain and any residual smell.

I don't mean to steal the topic, but since you're talking about it, I'm wondering what's the composition of those products ... since I live in Italy and we don't have those brands, I have to look for something similar for cleaning my carpet too big grin

Definitely try an enzyme remover as suggested up above. It works great!!! When I bought my pup I bought a steam cleaner at the same time, it was worth every dime of the extra two hundred I spent the same day as getting my pup....it gets up the stains while I use the enzyme remover for the odor and thank goodness Chaska is almost house trained now, mals can be so stubborn took my other one around seven months to decide the outdoors was the place to go,even with crate training.....any chance she got, my floor was the spot, thank goodness those days don't continue for their entire life spand...haha

Since Gorden is a Dirt Devil puppysmile, we of course use some to clean up after him. He's not house broken yet so we've had some real doozy accidents. They have a spot cleaner for carpets that is made for pet owners. It has a blacklight in the scrubby brush to FIND the stain. I found that (although I'm a little biased) it works great and the pre-treat solutions help a lot too. We found ours at Wal-Mart. Good luck! It would be a downer to have to replace your carpeting.

I agree about the enzyme cleaners. Just remember to blot really well. I blot first with paper towel (lots and lots of it... cheaper than a new carpet!) then I cover the spot with an old towel and a phonebook and leave it until the spot is totally dry. Refold the towel a couple times while its drying to maximize the soaking up power. It can also be a good idea to test the cleaner on an inconspicuous spot before letting soak on the visible area... the last thing you need is a new stain, or an even worse one! I once put a lot of Nature's Miracle in one spot and it created its own stain frown I used diluted dishwashing detergent and lots of blotting to get it out. Good luck!
