Cam used to be like that when he was a puppy. Cam now goes to sleep during a brushing and a bath. We used to give him a treat to show him that it's okay to get brushed, now he likes it because he know he going to get rewarded. It will take time, but he will get used to it.

Tip: A black handled with gold 1 inch bristles # 27 Chris Christensen brush helped speed up the process...with that being said.... Worth every penny spent.

Another tip- brush only when sleepy with slow soothing strokes is what worked for us.

You also might want to just rub him with the back of the brush till he gets used to it.

OMG story of my life, lol!! Except he doesnt yelp, he just fights me the whole time, wont sit still and will nip at the brush. I usually have to catch him off guard while he's sleeping before I can even touch him with the brush =/ I've tried doing the treat thing, doesnt seem to get through to him >.

I agree with 'The Boys' get him used to being around the brush first, this is what my breeder did with Prince from just a few weeks old. She would touch his feet softly with the back of the brush while playing with him and his litter. Although you don't want to turn grooming sessions into a game, you just want to let the pup know the brush is nothing to be afraid of. Also, he could be getting upset if the brush is tugging on his fur as this can be quite painful if there are nots. Brush very gently, if you find a bit is hard to brush though, take sections and hold near the root with your fingers then brush, to avoid the brush pulling the fur.
