We just adopted two plott hound pups from our local shelter; they are 10 weeks old; we've had them for a week. We read up on the breed, but could not find anything on the puppies, as far as what to expect from female siblings. We do have experience with Pit Bulls, as we rescue, rehabilitate and rehome them. We presently have 11 Pitties, who are all grown, and probably will be with us "until the end". Are Plotts similar in personality? I'm hoping they don't display dog aggressiveness; as we have enough of that dealing with some members of our Pit Bull Family. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!puppy

Hi, you've probably already discovered that Plott Hounds and Pits are not alike at all! Plotts generally get along with all people and they aren't dog aggressive at all. However, they are NOT trustworthy with any small animals, including cats. They are hunting dogs and will kill any animal resembling prey. And while Pits are not known for barking, Plotts do tend to bark - a lot. And it's the whoo-hooooo kind of bark (similar to a beagle). And they have tons of energy and need to be exercised daily. But just like Pits, they are sweet, smart, and very loyal dogs. And their brindle coloring is so beautiful!
We have 4 Plott mixes - one is a Plott/Pit.
