Yes papillons out there, it's happening again! I am now 5 months and my ears were erect, no problem. Now that I am 5 months, my right ear went flop....again. When will my ears permanently stay erect? My mommy thinks its because I'm loosing my baby teeth. Any ideas?

Maybe you are having a growth spurt. Sometimes it happens with us growing paps because we need all the calcium that we can get. Maybe try a tsp of cottage cheese once a day to provide more. I did that to both my paps when they were puppies but I never had a ear flop problem with either of them but thats what Daisy's breeder told me to do.

oh yes Daisy my ears were staying erect so wonderfully until recently. She gives me a tsp of cottage cheese every morning with my meals, and the hair on my ears are growing so she thinks maybe that is what is weighing my ears down. She doesn't think that it is a "soft ear" since it is falling forward and it was erect before.

It may have a lot to do with the fringe on the ears coming in. As Heidi's hair grew in, her ears continued to drop.

What's a soft ear?

One of Kit's ears stays floppy 95% of the time. He holds it up when he gets excited or is curous about something, but the rest of the time it's floppy. His other ear has been up for over 2 weeks straight now. But he started teething, so we'll see if things change. I don't care if one of his ears always stays floppy, I actually think it's kind of cute with one up and one down puppy

Hi Kitsune!

A "soft ear"is when the ear cartilage cannot hold up the ear and stays...well. Flop! lol. But I think our ears will erect at least within the year! If not, we can be floppy together!

Did your ears ever end up going up again?

Kit's didn't. He's lost all his baby teeth and still has one up ear and one floppy ear. At this point I hope it stays that way. It's adorable and makes him diffrent. We get so many comments on his goofy ears, haha. It fits his goofy personality laugh out loud

It's probably because you are teething. I don't think it is because of the fringe because hair doesn't weigh that much. Once you are done teething, your ears will probably be up and never drop again.
