Hi! A friend of mine has an English Bulldog who is getting persistant bacterial infections in his wrinkles. Every couple of months she has to take him to the vet to get meds for him. The vet has suggested cosmetic surgery as she has discovered that Wrigley as extra skin around his eye that is causing his eyelashes to rub on his eyeball, which makes the eye water. The liquid from his eye runs into his wrinkles and no matter how often they get cleaned (everyday) they are still becoming infected. So, the vet wants to fix the eyelid issue on both sides and remove some of the fatty tissue from his checks to lessen his wrinkles. She is also suggesting while he is out that they widen his nostrils so he has an easier time breathing and check his pallet as they apparently are notorious for having extra long pallets?? Anyway - sounds like she wants to fix everything that causes EB's to have a shorter lifespan.
My friend called me and asked my opinion, and since I know nothing about EB's as a breed, I was wondering if this sounded way out there or if anyone has had experience with these things being done. Any feedback, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

We had the eye surgery done on our bulldog and it has worked great! No more watery eyes or wet wrinkles!
