Our puppy Pepper is 10 weeks old, and we've had her since she was 8 weeks. She has been a good little pup since we got her, shes smart and understands how to go outside to pee, and she is lovable. She shares the house with a 4 year old mutt (not our dog, our in laws) and they play, but sometimes the play gets a little rough because Pepper is much smaller.

About 5 days ago she has become more and more aggressive towards everyone. If we try to pick her up sometimes she will give us a nasty growling fit and start biting at our hands. I get angry and say NO but she persists. She growls if she chews on something shes not supposed to and you go to get her away. Its slightly disheartening for my wife, I think shes upset because Pepper is turning into a little brat.

Any help?

Woof!
i am a 13-week old Mini Schnauzer, and i started to nip and tug last week. My master has found the secret is EXERCISE!! A brisk walk first thing in the morning and later in the day, and i is a perfect pup. Otherwise, i mean well, but i tend to get a little ''mouthy.' i lik-a the walk-walks!!

I noticed earl started biting and nawning on things around the 3 month mark the vet said it was teething, that could be it but i know he likes to act up when we dont have enough time for play, he really likes to play king of the hill, which is fun for him, until i stand up and show him who the real alpha is!

My Lexi chewed on everything in sight, but IMHO, the worse problem you have is the show of aggression. I would suggest puppy obedience training. It will work off energy, and help her know who is alpha (you).

Another good method to use when she acts aggressive is to put her firmly on her back, touch her face and firmly tell her NO. Stare her down. Don't let her up until she submits. You don't want to break her spirit, just teach her who is alpha. Every member of the family may have to do this until she realizes she cannot growl meanly or bite at a person. (Playful grows and nipping are different--you can tell the difference.)

You have also probably realized that the in-law's dog may be aggravating the problem. Sorry, don't know what to tell you about that one!
