|Mommy chuckled when she read the title of this thread. I'm not sure we really ever "mature" or "calm down." Mom says that she did notice I calmed down a bit approaching 3 and have started listening better now that I have turned 4. We truly are the eternal puppies though, that's part of what makes us so loveable.
That said, a tired lab is a good lab. Make sure to get enough exercise and also to have toys to play with. Labs LOVE to chew things, as I'm sure you know. Mom buys the big beef soup bones from the butcher, bakes them in the oven at 350 for 30 - 40 minutes, and when they're cool, gives them to us. I absolutely love them. I will work at one for an hour to get all the yummy marrow out (great for the coat) and having a powerful jaw, a big thick bone last longer. You can also try stuffing one of those giant black kongs or see your vet about the special blue ones that only vets sell. All that chewing wears a labbie out.
