 | | | | I have a tiny yorkie who means the world to me. On the 2nd of Jan 09 she fell down the stairs to my horror but appeared to be fine. The following day she seemed to be limping and not quite with it, I took her to the vets who gave her some anti inflamatories and said she needed complete rest and to bring Emillie back next week as she may need xrays!!! A few days later she seemed much worse and I took her straight back to be told the same thing but this time they gave her an injection and again said we may need to do xrays if this doesn't work!!! I wasn't happy with this and decided to find a specialised vets and asked them for a second opinion, they understood how upset I was and let me take her straight away on seeing her they asked if I could take her in the following day for full body xrays...... The xrays didn't pick anything up so with drugs Emillie came home but the said if I am worried about anything ring them. The following day Emillie could not walk I was very worried as she is my pride and joy.. I took her to the vets who refered her to The Liverpool university hospital where she underwent an MRI scan the results are she has GME (Granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis) She started chemo and was put on steroids 2 weeks ago.. I was allowed to bring her home 4 days after she was admitted and she should signs of improvement... After she had been home 2 days she deteriorated quickly and was unable to stand or go to the toilet... Again I contacted the vets and the hospital and she was readmitted straight away that was last thursday and she is still in fighting for her little life....... Has anyone known of this condition and what hope there is.... I want so much for her to be ok and she is fighting as hard as she can xxxx | | | | |
