Tot is moving to a day clinic this morning to cut down on the cost. If we had kept her at the emergency hospital and gone through every test they recommended, it would have cost us $10,000 in the first week. We would have loved to have just done everything, but we have so many other dogs to think about right now. We have to be somewhat prepared for something that may come up with another dog. Also, the hospital doesn't want a long-term patient, especially with her prognosis.
So the vet from the emergency hospital, who is very invested in doing everything she can for Tot, will go by and check on her evey day. She even said she wanted to stop and buy a sweater for Tot on her way to work the other day, but she was running late.
So she'll continue with this to see if she can get her body strong enough to kill most of the infection on her own. She's doing pretty well right now. Blood sugar is low but rising, red blood cell count is in the low normal range, and she has normal bowel and kidney function, all of which are improvements from the night before.
We'll update you when we know more. Thanks for al your support. We are depending on you guys a little to keep us hopeful .
