Moxie was really itchy all the time so we switched her to Taste of the Wild - Pacific Stream. She does great on that.

Zoe and Bear eat Blue buffalo. Bear gets BB wilderness salmon and Zoe is still on BB puppy. They also get raw once or twice a week. Usually oxtail and soup bones, but sometimes I get some deer from some local hunters.

there's some foods really high on recalls or bad out there.
Diamond is one of them, they make Solid gold for them. They make Candidea for them, Chicken lovers soup as well. And I think Kirkland dogfood as well. I stay far away from Diamond. I know that's what killed my old dog. She filled up with cancer fast then the recall was announced that week. Diamond foods killed hundreds of dogs and cats.

I stick with Royal Canin 24 bc I have never seen one recall.
But, they aren't high in protein, which my dog needs. I am going to mix her RC with beef raw from the organic farm again. Raw didn't work out for her.

I would try innova beef, but haven't yet. If anyone has luck with it let me know.

Ukanuba is high on recalls and my friend said his dog didn't do well on it. Nor did my friend with his dogs and TOTW pacific. I think all dogs vary on foods. If your dog does great on one thing then stick with it.
I feed all my dogs different things currently. None of them are the same breed. I do wish I could feed them the same diet though frown
Glad to know what other gsd's eat wink

I feed my three year old GSD wellness core, a grain free food. He seems to like it but the only thing I noticed is that his coat is a little dry. Also someone told me the protein content may be high for a large GSD( lean 97lbs). I think its about 34% crude protein. Does anyone have any insight for me about that. Thanks.

I have been feeding my 10month old girl Proplan for lge puppies. However she has skin allergies and has now at 10months become not interested in the proplan but loves when I mix it with her weekly raw meat.
I have now purchased Canidae fish grain free. Am hoping that she becomes interested in her kibble again. At the moment We have to sit with her and coax her to eat it. big laugh

ok have now commenced the Canadai salmon and rice. She doesn't seem to be too fussed on this dry food either so have started adding sardines and raw eggs which she loves. Am now trying anything to get her eating her kibble like she used too....

I have no idea what would be considered the "best" food. However, I have a 6wk old GSD pup and another GSD that is a year and three months. We looked around for a food that was close to buy and healthy. We came to the conclusion to put the pup on 4health and the older pup on diamond naturals. Although, I must admit, the recent recalls have me somewhat worried. frown
