There are a couple of raw turkey drumsticks thawing in the fridge for Heidi's Thanksgiving feastbig grin I can't wait. Feeding her those is a treat for her and me both. Then she's going to try some Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul...because it was cheap at the hardware store, and I'm about to shell out a whole buncha bucks for grain free food with fish in it so she doesn't get all itchy again this winter. big grin

Hi ALL! wave

I was just reading this thread, and now in 2009, I'm wondering how many of you are still feeding the same foods?

With all the current info on ethoxyquin, etc., I'm wondering if that has "scared" anyone into dropping food from their rotations?

I still feed Moxie Taste of the Wild. It does have that etho stuff in it. I keep feeding it because so far it is the only thing she doesn't get itchy from. I tried Fromm White Fish and Sweet Potato but she was allergic to that as well.

I haven't seen anything to indicate ethoxyquin is a problem at the level permitted...

But to answer your question... we do a rotation of Innova Red Meat, Taste of the Wild (Bison/Venison) and the Innova EVO Chicken... oh, which is about the same as last year

Is there an advantage of food rotation? Never thought of it, although I may vary the "icing on the cake" somewhat (spoonful of cottage cheese or canned Wellness, salmon treats, or other dry natural food).

I don't try to rotate, that causes too much dirrehea.
But, try to stick with one kibble and do my add-ins.
Right now because of the physical activity she has I do Solid Gold, barking at the moon, then my addin for training, is Wellness can fish, or usually the Innova, puppy can.
Innova puppy can is the same as the red label adult, just cheaper in pricesmile
Then we have other add ins for tracking rewards, that might be hard boiled egg, or nuked eggs with cheese.
Really, royal canin 24 is okay to feed. The stomach settles and the coat is great. I like the large chunks for her back teeth, you do have to do dental care still however.
I find the prices incredible high lately. And really I am thinking of slowly going to raw. I would feel better not having to worry about toxic chemicals and the tylenol additives.
I did have a dog die from Diamond dog food. I don't know, the stuff they put in our food is no better really.
If I could afford anything it would be raw daily and then fresh veggies for me. Our veggies are not the greatest around here only in the summer.
