Please help. I am 10 years old. I have never travelled by air in my life.I dont know whether if I fit in cabin or travel in cargo. Cargo sounds like a terrible option. Has any of you guys done this at my age? How did it go? I am a bit nervous and would appreciate your feed-back. confused

I'm really sorry I didn't see this sooner! I have Frenchies and I volunteer with the French Bulldog Rescue Network (FBRN). I was fostering a twelve yr. old Frenchie whose elderly owner had died.
After a few months she started fighting with my Frenchie, Pixie. They were both bossy girls. Another foster volunteer offered to take her. She flew from San Antonio, Texas to Minnesota in the cabin with the volunteer. She did great, no problems. We would not put a French Bulldog in the cargo. With their flat faces and possible breathing problems, and no one to see how they are doing, it is too dangerous. Something could go wrong, such as the ventilation becoming inadequate or too warm or too cold, and they could die. If you can sqeeze her into a cabin carrier, most likely she will be fine for the trip. Don't give her any kind of anti-anxiety drug. They interfere with the dog's body to regulate it's body temperature. If you must fly your dog in cargo, check with the airlines about their policies. For pets over 7 years of age, Continental strongly recommends a heart examination and bloodwork to make sure there is no underlying liver or kidney damage prior to flying. Go online and look under Air Travel With Dogs. There is a lot of information there.
