Luckily, I have a bag of Blue Buffalo that I had already gotten before the mass recall last week..

But after reading so many message boards and websites, I am not even sure what is safe anymore...

Blue Buffalo is still safe, correct...?

I was also looking into Wellness Core or Wellness Core Ocean (leaning more towards Ocean..). Is Wellness safe.....?

But Earthborn and Nature's Variety also seem like good choices...

Help me decide..please..? Or at least steer me away from the 'bad' or recalled ones. smile

Thanks!! smile

Uno, I thought it was the large breed formula...? But I suppose even just one formula merits a red flag for all formulas produced there..

At least I have the BB..so far nothing is recalled on that....

Large Breed puppy was the only recall for wellness. Core is fine.

I believe Wellness is also pulling their product from Diamond's plants and manufacturing them elsewhere.

Wellness Core is just fine--if you believe something made in the same factory as all the recalled foods is "just fine" because it hasn't been recalled yet, when the recall has already been expanded twice since the original announcement in April.

I wouldn't chance it.

hey Frankie, we are checking into the food forum because we just heard about the recalls.
we eat Wellness Core!
we were on the Ocean Core for almost a year, but it turns out it did not work out well for Louie, who has a little bit of a sensitive stomach. evidently he doesn't do so well on a fish diet. nina was doing fabulously on the Ocean.
we switched to 'regular' Wellness Core and we are both loving it!
(we do get toppers like sardines, scrambled or fried egg and various dinner scraps probably one out of our two meals per day).
we have been making a concerted effort to get down to our prime weight, both of us had been over indulging and gotten chubby red face
we decided to get down to our skinniest ever and then work our way back up to plump again smile
i keep telling mommy we have reached that 'turnaround point' and she can give us bigger portions again! little angel
we are looking our best ever right now! applause

I think you have to look closely at where the recall products are manufactured as it is not all of a companies product. Diamond does not necessarily manufacture an entire companies products. Whole Dog Journal, Feb. 2012 listed the companies that they would recommend for dry kibble and that lists whom the companies use, their own plants or if they outsource their products. In some of the other threads listed on Dogster there has been a detailed list of the products that have been recalled. Diamond has them listed on their website as does the FDA and the individual companies. They are not trying to hide anything as this is a major recall. I feel for everyone who has to go through this.

Blue Buffalo is not currently being recalled, but they did have a recall back in 2010 (due to excess levels of Vitamin D). Truth is, there are very few companies out there who have never had a recall, which is why the whole thing is so frustrating, and so scary.

I hope all these dog companies get smart and tell Diamond to go and jump in a lake. They have had to many problems over the last few years.
