Stupid question, but........are rawhides fattening?

Any food is fattening if you feed too much of it...

I don't think rawhides are really on the "bad" list for calories, unless your dog is fat and you're looking for things to cut out. I would think most of the usable energy in rawhide is protein, whereas carbohydrates (like in pet food and table scraps) are more likely to cause weight gain.

i was told they are. But i give jake pig ears which are also fattening. I don't feed raw hids because of the chocking hazard they have with my dog and our lovely ER vet vists because of his raw hide problems.

But they may be fattening and probably are since its just animal skin whch is fattening. imagine eating a lot of pork rines or fried chicken skin. just give in moderation and not as a food score and you should be fine.
