Thank you Bam Bam!!! I have a small problem. Where I live, I can get very few kinds of dog food, mainly purina, and no special ones, just the basic puppy chow or adult food. All other brands are inferior, so I am thinking of mixing the dry food with 'human' food. I have read thousands of posts all over the internet and still have no idea what I should do. Puppy is 4 months, Bullmastiff, 34 Lbs, please help me, and I am sorry if I might me asking for info that has already been posted, and really good info by the way, thank you

I really urge you to check out the raw feeding forum as well as the homecooked forum. Perhaps a homemade diet of sorts is best (well, I'm ALWAYS going to say that fresh food is better than processed kibble). If you're already willing to add fresh food to your dogs meal, I believe it might be better in the long run to just do the whole thing fresh.

I have found a supplier of Hill's Large breed adult and puppy. In the puppy food calcium is 1.18, phosp 0.87, they both seem a bit high and I think they are based on 1 cup of food , it says this above the list

Dry 3626 kcal/kg (357.3 kcal/per cup²), is it any good, or I could go with the adult Hill's large breed, but in your thread you said that he will need to eat 2 as much, so even more calcium, so I guess adult food is out, he is only 4 months old.

Hills is also not a good company. If you look at the ingredients, it's mostly corn and other stuff more appropriate for hoofed animals, not carnivores.

Sorry... None of the above are all that great.

A quick search shows me that Canidae and Nutrisource are available in Costa Rica. Can you find either of these?
