SG BatM has 1940 cal??? eek Wow!!! No wonder Kuma has not been finishing all his food lately!!! I thought it was because he didn't like the food... laugh out loud

Well, here goes the calculation for Kuma in SG BatM:

His weight: 11lbs.
His daily caloric need: 220 calories/day
Cal/lb of SG BatM: 1940
5 lbs. of BatM according to k9cuisine: $13.14
Total Calories in a bag: 5*1940=9700
Cost per Calorie: $13.14/9700=$0.0013543
Cost a day for SG BatM: $0.0013543*220=$0.298/day
Cost a month of SG BatM: $0.298/day*30= $8.94/month
Cost a year of SG BatM: $0.298*365=$108.78/year

Went to pick up food today and noticed that Orijen is cheaper then I thought it was ($31.75 for a 7kg bag) and Taste of the Wild is more expensive then I thought ($28.5o for a 6.8kg bag).

So...

TOTW
3750 cal x 6.8kg = 25 500
25 500 / 1475 = 17.28
$28.50 / 17.28 = $1.64


Orijen
4200 cal x 7kg = 29 400
29 400 / 1475 = 19.93
$31.75 / 19.93 = $1.59

Orijen is cheaper to feed then Taste of the Wild! Only by $1.50/month but hey, it's something!

American foods are more expensive in Canada. Canidae, here at least, isn't really that much cheaper than Orijen. It's still cheaper, but not in a "holy cow that's cheap" kind of way.

I guess we should put where we are from, b/c it makes a huge difference in what costs what!

I should only eat 288 calories per day! eek

Good thing Mom switched me to a reduced calorie kibble. With my new food I am now eating 352 calories per day compared to about 485!

We know this wasnt the point of this thread (to calculate daily caloric intake) but we found it useful! LOL

Yep, I'm a Canuck. Which sucks from a dog food point of view. Forget the fact that the dollars are pretty much even; we still pay through the nose for American made foods. Taste of the Wild is $28.50 for 15lbs. Canidae is $27.99 for 20 lbs (I think). Orijen is $36.45 for 15.4 lbs (our local seller sells it for $31.75 because Orijen jacked it's price up, but she didn't want to) or $57.75 for 28.6lbs.

Bailey - bet you can get Petcurean's "Go! Natural" for a decent price. It's a quality kibble.

I do see your point though!
