Well, I got some e-mails today and most of the companies are telling me how many calories per cup, not by lb or kg. They also aren't informing me how much the cup weighs. Ugh, what's so hard to understand about "Hi, I'd like to know the amount of calories per pound (or kg) of your *insert formula.*

Sedona, I've weighed cups of several dog foods, and they all averaged about 110-120 grams per cup. There really wasn't much variation between several very different brands (Canidae, Taste of the Wild, Kibbles n Bits, Medi-Cal Dental Formula).

Sedona, where do you buy your Orijen? Do you order it online? We get our food from global pet foods and its about $70 for the amount you posted. Nikki doesn't eat much considering her size so the cost isn't problem but for those with 100+ lb dogs here probably would have a problem. Thanks smile

That was just an online price. I wish I could get it for that. I think people in The States pay less than we do. We get ours at Ren's Pets Depot in Oakville Ontario, and I think the biggest bag of 6 Fish is about $65 bucks (I think).

We can get the 6 fish for around 64-66 bucks in the states and the regular is even less. We can order it online for about the same price here also.

Bindi, I'd look into ordering online. Check around for the lowest prices (check the coupon thread too). You could probably find it cheaper than $75 shipping included.

thanks sedona, we order some other foods from K9 cuisine but they don't have the orijen fish formula in stock...frown so no luck.... we still have half of the bag left so we don't need to buy it soon. maybe k9cuisine will have it stock soon...

Oh man... Im glad I stumbled upon this thread... but really... WOW... MY BRAIN HURTS!! Woah buddy. I am completely confused. So here's what Ive got.

Mihkoa= 28lbs
NEEDS= 465 Calories per day
I bought a 41.25lb bag of Purina One Pro Plan Adult Natural Lamb & Rice = $25.99

Uh, and from your post, thats 1828cal/lb RIGHT?

So from here on out is where I get completely confused...

1828x41.25=75405
25.99/75405=3.44

SO THATS $3.44 per CALORIE??!?! Am I seriously screwing this up? Honestly Im the WORST at math... and yeah... Im using a calculator and still screwing it up! laugh out loud

Ive got 5 dogs and Im gonna work here on figuring out how many calories each one needs... so if anyone here can just help me figure out JUST Mihkoa and her needs, that would be STUPENDOUS... because I am seriously lost!
