hey sedona can you do us? bol......

daisy 17lbs
coco 12 lbs
sal 10
butters 8lbs

(this is what we *should* weight BOL!!!)

sedona you are the bestestest! Im going to copy and forward that first post and the ones with the calories....hey do you think you could repost with it all together? Like all the calories ones (i know you had most, but it would be awesome all together) so I can show my rescue how it would only cost like max $9 a month to feed the best! I mean, that is amazing (sure helps convincing those doubting tightwadded husbands!!!) and my rescue, well they are suffering from sticker shock, so to be able to show them how it really doesnt cost much more at all, would be awesome! This info, is truly the best weapon against the cr*p foods like grocery and Science (fiction) diet etc....!!!!!

daisy - 302 cals
coco - 181 cals
sal - 206
butters - 179

Purina said they were going to send me the info by mail, but I used a fake address. So I'm going to have to recontact them. Mars (Pedigree, Good Life, Nutro) still has not given me any infoconfused I guess they are too busy dealing with dead dogs and cats.

Edited first post.

Like to figure it out cost for the TOTW (costs me 42.99 a bag of 30lbs) and Wellness core ocean 56.99 for the 26lb bag.......

ok you inspired me to get that trusty TI -86 out, bol!

I got:
Daisy 302
Coco 233
Sal 206
Butters 179

is that right? it was desired weight divided by 2.2 then multiplied by 30 and add 70 right? That add sign didnt make it into that first post, so i wanted to make sure.

now as far as the price per year/month food etc.....you lost me. ill let the expert (you!) do it! if you dont mind.......

I just realized that you probably wanted me to do the price/year thing. Duh!laugh out loud Sorry, I've been researching dying my hair with henna and indigo to get rid of my greys (I'M 24, WHY DO I HAVE SO MUCH GREY?!?!). Okay.....

I must have not added 70 to the one I messed up on. Ooops. red face I've tried fixing the first post a bunch of times, but the add sign just doesn't show up.

Sedona, I feel your pain. A few years ago I started with the grey too, and im 28....I asked my mom b/c seriously, neither of my parents, both in their 60s have like hardly any grey! My mom goes, oh well your grandma went grey at like 20 too, NICE THANKS! BOL! Guess it skips generations!!! I dye it with the same color of my hair, (or darker if I wanna mix it up), but i dye the whole head with the same color, leave it on alittle longer like they say, for greys...some are even made for greys and some are ammonia etc free. OK, ending thread hijack BOL,,,,,

Thank you so much! hey you got me to do math....lol. Can you do the beneful for them too? My parents still feed beneful and I want to show them the difference. Thank you somuch, you are pretty cool you know? Makes me wanna partner with you and open an online dog stuff store! BOL! Hey, we'd be the most knowledgeable (or well, you would lol)

thanks again. This info i think, for everyone is really an eye opener, when you compare it to what you would pay for junk food, it is CRAZY how little it costs more to feed quality stuff!

I'll walk you through it in case you need to show someone how to do it.

First find how many calories per pound.
Beneful is 1674.

Then multiply the cal/lb by the number of pounds in the bag.
1674 (cals) * 35.2 (lbs)=58924.8 There are a total of 58924.8 calories in the bag of food. Write that number down

Now type in on your calculator the price of the bag divided by the total calories in the bag.
31.99/58924.8=0.000542895. That number means that each calorie costs $0.000542895.

Then you take how many calories the dog needs and multiply by the cost of 1 calorie. I'll do Daisy.
302 * 0.000542895 = 0.163954396
That number means it costs that much for her to eat Beneful for one day. Muliply the one day number by 365 to get the one year total.

To find the week, mulitply by 7 (7 days in one week)=1.147680773
To find the year, multiply the week number by 52 (52 weeks in one year) = 59.67940018.

Then you round up or down. For Daisy to eat Beneful for one year it costs $59.68

Daisy - 0.16 day, 1.15 week, 59.68 year.
Coco - 0.13 day, 0.89 week, 50.73 year.
Sal - 0.11 day, 0.78 week, 40.71 year.
Butters - 0.10 day, 0.68 week, 35.37 year.
Everyone - .50 day, 3.50 week, 182.00 year.

To get the everyone number I add up the per day cost for each dog then. That gives me the per day. I take that then multiply by 7. Then take that and muliply by 52. You could add all the totals up, but I did it that way because it's quicker. If you add each section up you'll come up with different numbers. That because of the rounding. If you do the whole decimal you'll get more accurate answers. At worst you'll only be off a couple bucks. I don't have enough patience to do the whole decimal.

ETA: In the case of your pack it costs 291.20 a year for TOTW and 182.00 a year for Beneful. That's a difference of 109.20. Divide that by 12 (months) = 9.10 a month extra.

thank you! Seriously, have you thought about a career in accounting? You could do my taxes anyday! bol! and you are darn fast too!!!

Wow, so for us, to feed all 4 dogs, it would only cost about $100 more or so, a year to feed TOTW versus Beneful.....thats like what? $8.33 a month? bol! AND TO BOOT--for us, and probably others, we eat less than that calculator says (we gained when we did, prob b/c we arent very very active dogs), so for us, it would cost even LESS than that calculation! Craziness. Sure there was sticker shock, but $8.33 a month? yeah I can do that! BOL!

Thanks again Sedona, and for explaining it step by step....Ill need it! Maybe i can convince my parents! ahhh dreams....

way to goway to goway to goway to goway to goway to goway to goway to goway to go and may I add a little....cheercheercheercheercheercheer
