For Cujo & Mom and any of the other pets who have ingested some
of the contaminated/recalled food....our hearts go out to you and
our prayers are with you.
Please, if you've posted that you had some of the bad stuff, keep
us all informed on how things come out with you...
Everyone is upset about this in Dogster & Catster land, I'm sure...
and everyone needs to be loving and gentle in what they post,
esp. right now, yes? No one needs to feel guilty or bad for whatever they've fed their babies....we all do the best we know at any given
time!
Peace to all!

This is a direct copy from a post on the first page...

'More about "Menu Foods," the Canadian pet food manfacturer that makes the food for Petsmart (Authority, et. al.), Iams, Eukanuba, Walmart, Safeway and Krogers. From Peta's website (yeah, yeah, it's PETA, but it doesn't negate the cruelty and neglect these animals suffer). If you are buying these brands, you are supporting animal testing and cruelty'

There it is...I am supporting animal cruelty because I feed my dogs Eukanuba. I am also a bad dog owner because I feed them Eukanuba and that doesn't seem to be good enough for some of the people posting on this forum.

You do what is right for your dogs and I support that. I am doing what works for my dogs, and I get angry when I come on a post that I was hoping would lead me to information regarding the recall (and it did, thank you to those who posted relevant information) and saw posts that said things like the one above. Sorry, but aren't we all supposed to be about our dogs?

Mina, you may want to read my latest post and a few of the other more recent posts - ones on the last few pages - that address your concerns.

For dear Mina....please try not to take what is written so hard,
friend. All of us are frightened, concerned, some have sick pets
already, so feelings and emotions are running high. My mom has
fed several of the foods on the list, including Iams and Eukanuba
in her lifetime of having furkids....and she doesn't feel like she went
out and purposely supported animal cruelty.
Try to not to feel bad....I'm sure your mom is a best mom and does
what she knows is right. That's all any of our moms do at any given time.
My mom just wants to encourage everyone to spread all the word
they can to everyone they know about this recall, and give out all
the sites and info that they can. This needs to be our focus, I think...
try to save every pet we can by getting the info out!!
Our love and prayers and best to all!!hug

Sorry to hear you are so angry mina. I am too - but moreso at the companies since they seem to be tight with info on the dates.

In any event - I went to Petsmart today and returned the packets. They didnt have info on dates of distribution. One of my friends isa manager and has been through it all with Cujo and I since he was 2 months. lol. He was telling me that Menu foods is guesstimating there was a problem that occured during manufacturing between December through March. However they are actually unsure and are being asked to keep all packets and reship to manufacturer for testing. I brought back only 12, but afterwards went to "Earth Animal" to see about holistic diet.

It was pretty neat. They have this veggie and oat mix that you add to boiling water like soup and stuff. All you do is cut up a cutlet and cook with the mix and serve. It literrally took 8 min to 10 min. CUJO LOVED IT. I never saw him eat that much before. haha I also bought a cook book. These receipes are so similar to people food but they use different oil type. Interesting. I can see us getting into this. I felt good about it - I knew exactly what was in the food (chicken cutlet that I cleaned, i chopped and I cooked) and some veggies with cooked rice. For once I felt settled.

I used to buy Eukanuba only because my vet said it was the best - and I am sure it was out of what was out there and I dont think I am bad for purchasing it, I just feel guilty because I am only human. Im a doggie mom! smile

However, I always wondered what would be better - commercial food or cooking at home. I also reserached on this site with the vet section and someone had asked him the same question. I was surprised to read that cooking regular food was good for your pet. I have always understood from so many that regular food was not good and lacked proteins and nutrients that Cujo needed. Apparently my understanding was wrong. But you live and learn.

I have chosen to stick with the new diet though. It is a little more costly, but that is OK. I feel better remaining risk free regarding this. It actually made me start thinking of baby food ironically. Now I understand why my cousin refused to buy t and woyuld make her own... after this, it was so funny how I have a TOTAL approeciation for that. He is my lil'fur baby so one day when I have kids I think I may just go down that route with children as well.

I will let you know how we make out at the vet. I am just happy he ate something today! Thank you for all your well wishes. Keep Cujo in prayer and we will for those of you who have the same issue (cats and dogs alike!)

(JOrdan - Yes - I changed vet. They are clsoed sundays. It was the vet emergency line that was nasty. I have a good vet now. Thanks for remembering! So nice that you did!)

Have a great night everyone. Sorry for the novel!

Cujo,

I'm feeling for you, I wish the best for you and your family.

I am going to the vet in the morning too.

I am cooking for Roxie and she perked up today. She is still having a problem with wetting today, not as much but still dribbling. My vet called to tell me she wanted me to bring her in the morning and try to catch a sample. She said they don't know what is going on with the food yet but will do blood work and labs.

I am upset too and could kick myself for not changing her diet last year. Just for peace of mind, I will cook her food. Let's hope for the best for our beloved pets.

Take Care.

Sorry Mina I missed that one. I don't think anyone is cruel for feeding their dogs any kind of dog food, I think anyone who posts on here must love their pup. It's no one's fault about the recall except the pet food makers. I'd also rather a dog have a good home as long as the dog gets love and food (whatever you choose to feed your dog), that is better then being in a shelter and unwanted.

The other thing is money, Mom and Dad just have me and Frisco now, the human kids are grown and on their own. So they can afford to spoil us a bit more, not everyone is bad who does not have the funds to feed the expensive food. Love is what it's all about.

I saw a post by Pookie that now cans of Mighty Dog are on the list -- just wondering where that info came from as there's still no info on that on the Purina site.

Grandmas country stew
Cape Cod picnic
outback BBQ
Greek banquet
Tuscon grill
Colorado cookout
Variety pack, country
Variety pack international
These are types of Mighty Dog food that Petsmart employee (who
is a friend) told me they were notified to pull.....
POOH BEAR.......this is where we got the information. Just so you
know.
According to my friend, Petsmart where she works kept getting all
kinds of faxes with new info & had to be pulling stock all of her shift.
Another friend in NY tells me PetCo did not have one can of food
stocked where he went yesterday....
Stuff may not be updated on the various websites as it is the weekend and you know how that is.
Hope this helps!
