Cujo
Cujo The- Lil'Little!© |
| Barked: Sat Mar 17, '07 9:06pm PST | | | | | | I found out for the first time tonight about the recall when watching the news. Mind you I have heard nothing at all on this for two days?? Then they mentioned no names until I saw the flash of Eukanuba packaging and had heart failure. Cujo eats the chunks in gravy adult pouches for eukanuba... I looked up on Petsmart the codes and ALL of his puches are in the lot. They say this has been food distributed since December through March!!!!! I am a nervous wreck. I have been trying to call the vet - which of course is never open - and then menu foods telephone line is unreachable... finally get through now sitting on hold the last hour. What do I look for? What do I do? I feel so confused rtight now and really really angry at the moment. IN this last puchase last Friday since then Cujo has consumed 11 pouches at least. I am so nauseated over this. He has not been hungry and I have been tryin t to get him to eat telling him what a good boy he is for eating and yet this whole time I am feeding him food that is hurting him?? I feel so sick.
Does anyone know what I should look for? After this I am going to go the natural route. I knew to do this months ago and should have. I have been telling myself this commercial food is not good, yet procrastinated to get off of it for him.
Does anyone know if Ceasar food is also affected??? I am going to petsmart tomorrow to bring the remaining 12 packets back. I am so angry, ughhh

Cujo, I do hope you are going to be OK.
I was at my local Kroger's yesterday and a lot of items I thought were on the list were still on the shelves. I do hope they know what they are doing.

So many of these companies should be held accountable for false advertising - when will they have what's really in the food in the pictures on the labels instead of falsely comforting idyllic scenes in no way connected to what's in the bag (or in this case, can)?

| Barked: Sat Mar 17, '07 10:58pm PST | | | | | | As for the reticence I mentioned earlier, I look at it through a somewhat jaundiced eye, being employed by a co. that's sneaky and immoral yet in control of communication with the media.
Think about it: when they want information where do reporters go? The first direction they head in a 'small' story like this isn't the most impartial source exactly - they go to the company who may be doing the right thing but is also concerned about profits and loss and public image.
I think we need more whistleblowers .. impartial source of info.

The twosome! |
| Barked: Sun Mar 18, '07 12:28am PST | | | | | | First of all - Thanks Romulus. We agree how do you know?
I have a Dogster friend who has started preparing her babies meals at home. I'm thinking about doing it all the time instead of just on the weekends.
One of the things that concerns me is that you spend the extra money for the higher quality brands such as Pedigree or the premium brands such as Eukanuba so that your babies will have a better diet you hope. Then you find out that the bargain brands are made by the same company! Am I missing something here?
Thanks Everybody! | | | | |

Diamond in- the Ruff
117837 |
| Barked: Sun Mar 18, '07 4:32am PST | | | | | | The company has yet to identify what is causing the problem, but has
stated that they believe it coincides with a supply of wheat gluten
from a "new supplier." They have discontinued that supplier and are,
according to their web site, "aggressively producing product, using a
different supplier for the ingredient in question, to replenish
consumers... " Maltese Mommy's advises that you AVOID THESE BRANDS
ALTOGETHER until and unless a reliable report is published detailing
what is going wrong with their pet foods. NB: it sounds like another
example of aflatoxin poisoning similar to the Diamond foods recall of
last year. This time moldy wheat, not moldy corn, may be the culprit.

Shady
I'm a blanket- hogger! |
| Barked: Sun Mar 18, '07 4:39am PST | | | | | | I feed Shady and Peyton Eukanuba gravy pouches for a treat every now and then! I was terrified when I saw that the dates matched the ones on the recall list!! I haven't given them one in a week or so, they are acting completely normal. I called my vet but no answer... Shocking, I know Thank you all for your help as I use the internet at work and haven't been here for 2 or 3 days, the news wouldn't let a brand name slip so I was in the dark! Thank you dogster!!!! | | | | |

Yard? What- yard?.... |
| Barked: Sun Mar 18, '07 7:06am PST | | | | | | We don't get any of those. One time Dad wanted to get Caddilac but Mom said no way, since she'd never heard of it before. The big nice new grocery store, Wegman's, sells Bruiser, Mom didn't like the name of that either and at 30 cents a can didn't trust it. | | | | |

Roxie
Roxie- |
| Barked: Sun Mar 18, '07 8:22am PST | | | | | | I called the vet today, she said signs to look for are vomiting and diarreha. Roxie stopped eating the food on her own a few days ago. I learned a lesson, if the dog isn't eating it, something may be wrong with it. I really feel duped by this company not coming forward sooner. Roxie will eat home cooked food from now on. This happened last year with Diamond foods. What has happend that this is going on with these dog food plants? We have FDA in human food plants, do we have similar regulations in dog food plants? Look at the money we spend on health care for our pets, this is an added burden on familys who love and care for their pets. | | | | |
