Smokey,

Yes, it is true, that Menu Foods has changed the lists on their website a number of times since they were first published on March 17th, even though the date stamped on their website for both dog and cat lists says "March 16, 2007" I find this highly disturbing and irresponsible, as people who, early on, looked at the lists, would not assume any changes to said lists since the date has not changed, nor is there any statement on their website indicating any changes.

The last update was March 20th and this is the list I have on the http://www.howl911.com/#foods website.

Lucy,

Thanks so much for your quick response. It's horrible that more folks are mentioning the additions because that means that someone who shouldn't feel safe might feel safe if they checked over the weekend and had no cans or pouches with those numbers. Someone should be reporting that the list is changing.

Hi, friends!
Mom wants you all to read Joy's column today on the front page,
right side. In it she states that she would not feed ANY canned
foods manufactured by Menu Foods....she seems to think (mom
does too) that they are keeping stuff from us, and doesn't believe
they havent found the cause of this......she compares them very
unfavorably with Diamond Foods who underwent a big recall
in 2005.
80% of the canned dog food in North America is produced by
Menu Foods.......
think about it, dear friends.....be well and please stay safe!

I spoke with the customer service people at Wellness and YES!!!! wellness canned IS made at menu foods. Wellness does not contain corn or wheat, so I asked about cross contamination which he just BS'ed me saying that this would never be a problem as Wellness conducts inspections 4 times a year of Menu foods. Hello!!!! that is not enough, I will not feel Wellness or Natures Variety any longer, in fact my dry foods are being tossed too.

For those of you who were asking about Hill's Prescription and Eukanuba Veterinary Diet prescription foods. I talked with my vet today (had to order more food for Provo). They assured me that those brands - canned and dry - are okay. Our vet is very trustworthy and good about our pets' health before profit and such.

Winston is home tonight after 2 ½ days in hospital. His blood levels all moved into the normal range, thank G*d. A set of 6 xrays show no problems with any internal organs, which also gives added weight to his symptoms being caused by an external cause like tainted food. His urine specific gravity is still poor, still increased water intake/urine output, but we can deal with that. He has to go back next week for another urinalysis, or back immediately for more IV fluids if his condition changes.

Winston’s vet has now reported him, and one other dog in her care, to the FDA as “definitely fits the profile” for the food recall, so I expect I’ll be hearing from the FDA soon. We were very, very lucky that Winston was so healthy--he has been able to fight this thing so far. We also believe because we had bought a dozen loose cans instead of a sealed case Winston may have had only a few tainted meals—again very lucky. We pray he continues to show improvement on his new prescription Renal diet—which, being Winston, he hates.

Thanks to everyone who helped us bring our boy home with their prayers and positive thoughts.

Gratefully still a Bully Mom,
Rhonda B.

p.s. just a scary thought--2 cases that a VET, not some worried pet parent, thinks are linked to the food recall. 2 cases for just one vet, times how many vets in a city, county, state, country?
