Thank you for the info, Helix, I will check on those stores. They are all pretty far from where I live (other side of the city) but a couple of them look like they are located close to interstates, so next Saturday morning I'll give it a try. hug

Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's soul also has a store locator on their website, so you might be able to find some places closer to you (I'm not familiar with Oklahoma City, so I'm not sure if the suburbs are listed separately or anything, so you could try looking yourself!). Good luck!

The Chicken Soup is out of the question. Maya has bad allergies from any chicken kibbles (not from real chicken meat, ain't that weird?) so we always get the lamb kibbles.

I looked on the canidae Lamb and rice formula, looks very good, I guess we will give it a try and see how that works.

Thanks for all the links hug

Both of those foods are poultry based (chicken soup and canidae) so likely your dogs are sensitive to chicken, and it made them itch. That's why it's useful to try different formulas of food- lamb and rice is usually less allergenic than other formulations. Not every food is for every dog, but it's worth a try!

I called my vets office again today. My regular vet was not in, so I talked to a different guy and he told me nothing had been found wrong with the food, but to stop using it (uhhh...duh!!) and watch for any symptoms. The office is making a list of all clients who call in and what their pets have been eating so if any other info comes in they will know who to call for follow up.

So, if you, like me, have been feeding your pets food that is now recalled, call your vet and see if they are doing the same and get on the list.

I told him of the change to California Natural for my guys. He said he was familar with the brand and thought it would be a good switch for them.

Hi Friends,

I went to the vet today, I got blood work and urine tests. I have a infection in my urine and my white cell count is high, so is my glucose. The vet said Iam dehydrated too. I have been drinking, but who knows what it was that caused us to get sick. I was put on an antibotic for 14 days and she said I have to be watched closely for any other symptoms. I have to go back in 14 days and have all of this lab work done again. Our Vet said if I have any other symptoms to call asap. She told mommy it was ok to cook my food. So mommy went to Barns and Nobles and got two cook books for dog meals. We have to go out of town for the weekend to a Navy Base and mommy is taking me with her. If I get sick away from home there is a Vet on Base that my human brother can take me to. I think I will be ok, but because we don't know what was in the food to make me sick I will have to be watched very closely. I have perked up since mommy has been cooking for me. We think, I will be ok.

The Vet said if they get any more information on the cause of the Illness she will let us know.

I really feel sorry for all of those poor pups who are sick and have died. Our Vet has been busy with phone calls. This is a major impact on pets. Mommy is very upset over all of this. She got copys of the blood work and urine tests, just in case. I would advise anyone who takes your dog or cat to to the vet to get copys of labs and keep all of your receipts.

I'm so sorry to Angel, Roxie and Cujo, and all the other doggies affected by this recall... My fingers and toes crossed for you all, for those who passed the bridge, that you're having a ton of fun over there (my girl I grew up with Candy is in the welcoming committee! She's the cranky ol' GSD, but she's really nice...). And to those who are sick, we're rootin' for ya!!!

To Mina, I'm sorry you're feeling persecuted. Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is, and this goes for HUMAN food as well, that as corps get bigger and bigger, suppliers of food get smaller in number. Branding has very little sometimes to do with what is actually IN the product. Maybe the way it's prepared may differ slightly, but in many instances, food products share the same manufacturing plants, share the same ingredients suppliers... Then they just put the stuff in different bags, slap different stickers on them, and send them out to the various distributors...

Chances are, the brands that don't succumb to this, who insist on their own manufacturing, who insist on knowing and testing ingredients from their own suppliers, tend to be smaller more socially-conscious brands. But this is costly to them, and so their prices tend to be higher. Sad but true.

Hi everyone! Has anyone heard from Cujo?
Thanks to all who posted about their vet visits today, and we pray
that all who went will be ok......
My mom is going to change all of us over to Natural Balance allergy
formula Duck & Potato. No grains are in the NB food....and it is no
more costly than the Hills Prescription diet we are on.
I would urge everyone that can to try to go to the "higher end" foods or raw diets...home cooked, I understand, needs to be supplemented with vitamins, but it's a sight better than those recalled foods!!
Just a reminded that most of the higher end foods require you to
use less, so they last longer.....and don't end up costing as much as
you think. Also, most can be ordered on line if you can't find a
store nearby. Most of their websites have store locaters, too!
Hoping that this finds all doggies getting better and feeling good!
This has been a long, scary weekend for so many!

A very sad article came out from MSNBC.

When Menu Foods did tests on their own animals after the initial reports, one in six died. One in six! That's a lot.

And apparently the initial reports came in to Menu Foods a month ago. frown
