For now, we are just having the Orijen as a treat- mama just bought a 30 some pound bag of our Chicken Soup.wink
But we almost ate mama's hand when she gave us the treat yesterday.
Mama wishes she could do the raw thing again-she gets us some primal to mix in with our dry and we get chicken backs and beef bones sometimes...
Thanks for all the info on the Orijen. Levi is allergic to lamb and I don't do too well on beef, so the chicken, fish and turkey sounds great to us!!

Right now we're on Innova Puppy, but when Helix is old enough we definitely want to go grain free. Currently our pet food store (Critters in Saskatoon) only carries Innova Evo, but I asked about Orijen and they were willing to bring it in for me (because they already sell Acana, which is made by the same people but is not grain free). Also, I was excited to learn that a Saskatchewan based pet food manufacturer (Horizon) is also coming out with a grain free kibble and they''re going to be supplying it. I think we'll probably do a combination of Innova RM and the new Sask-made product (I don't have an ingredient list for it yet though, but I assume it will be poultry based). Yay for options!

Rudy was just at the vet today and we brought a sample bag of Orijen home. We mixed it in with Rudy's Nutro and she was apprehensive about eating it. I was shocked, I have NEVER seen Rudy turn down anything. Eventually she went to eat it and we thought it was fine..............until she walked away from the bowl and the only bits left were the Orijen kibbles..
She ate some of them but must have had enough and left the rest. I honestly don't know how she couldn't like it?? It sounds like if anything it should taste BETTER than what she is eating now. How can I get her to eat this food???

That's crazy! We bought a sample bag of Orijen Puppy for Helix and did a taste test with a few other kibbles, and he wolfed down the Orijen! I've never seen him eat kibble like that! We mixed it in with the Innova to switch to the Orijen (it's so much cheaper for us and grain free) and he would pick out the Orijen kibbles and leave the Innova. We gave him his first bowl of Orijen only today and he actually ate all of his food in about 10 minutes (unheard of!). We love it smile

Bailey

Rudy is probably being picky because its new, give it time I'm sure she'll grow to like it. When Bailey was beginning her switch to purina puppy chow (which she is coming off of right away!) she wouldnt eat much of it. Now she gobbles it up as well as anything I offer her.

If at first you dont succeed try try again.

I love Orijens ingredients. I may buy a trial size bag of it. I wish they had more choices for protein. I like to switch up proteins for my dogs food.

I may just have to wait for Orijen to be more available in the states. I'm paying a lot just for shipping a 5.5 bag of dog food and I have three dogs in the house.

We did try again lastnight before bed to give her the kibbles that she had left in her bowl. I was going to try hand feeding her and try to trick her by giving her one of her old kibbles, then a new one. She cannot be fooled! She would take the new one, taste it, then spit it back out. So then I decided to just let her eat right from the hand and see maybe one would "accidentally" end up in her mouth and she would swallow it. Well..she was SO good at figuring out which is which she would spit the new ones out everytime. So then I gave the food to my Fiancee and all the sudden she ate it. So the food is gone, she went looking for more...we'll see if she still likes it tonight!

I wish they would make a raw and canned Orijen food mix then I'd be all over it. :-0)
